I would like to put together as complete a list as possible of all the books and other resources that I can find concerning the people and history of Anson County. Some of these books may still available for purchase. Where known these sources are listed. Some just have the Library of Congress (LC) call number on them; these may be available for interlibrary loan. Deep Creek Baptist Church
Description: List of members from 1815-1830 and 1848-1932. I (Julious) have a list of members from 1810-1814 but can not tell when they joined. Deep Creek Baptist Church was originally located on Deep Creek near Ruby S.C. but was moved to Anson Co. in 1823. It was constituted in 1778.

The Kendall Family, Descendants of William Kendall, Westmoreland County, Virginia, Jerry T. Kendall, 1998.
Description: This book focuses on John Spilman Kendall who migrated to Anson County circa 1814 and his descendants. John Spilman Kendall is the progenitor of many of the Kendalls living in Anson County and most of the Kendalls living in South Carolina and Georgia. He was a well known physician in Ansonville for over 50 years. The book is 8 x 11 inches, green hardback cover embossed with gold lettering, 286 pages, 51 photographs, and indexed. Description: The book contains names from several Sunday School Rolls, and other Sunday School Records. Patrick Family History, also known as A History of a Patrick Family and Related Families 1751-1997
Description: This 320 page book contains copies of maps and deeds and 84 photographs. This book is completely indexed. The history spans 245 years encompassing ten generations through 1996, with over two thousand "relatives" on the genealogy listing. Our earliest known ancestor, John Patrick, was born in Ireland, lived in Maryland, then Lincoln County, North Carolina, and his son, Pernal lived in Anson County, NC then moved to Georgia in 1832.

The Denson Family of Scott County Mississippi
Description: It is indexed and concerns the Denson family of Anson Co., NC, Mississippi and Texas. The main focus of the book is Shadrach James Denson born 1800 Anson Co., NC, d. 1888, Scott Co., MS and his descendants. The earliest known ancestor is James Denson born about 1716, probably in Isle of Wight Co., VA. He settled in the area of Bladen Co., NC which became Anson County. The book is fully documented and an update of Lois Nix's The Denson Family, North Carolina to Texas.

Description: 687 pages. This book covers the years 1848 when the first newspaper (Argus) was begun, and goes through 1933. This tells about early marriages, deaths, schools, churches, and businesses.

Type Talk II of Lilesville Township, Anson County, Emma Goodwin. c. 1992.
Description: 500 pages. This book covers the years 1934-1940 (the depression years), and was taken from the newspapers. There is a sketch of the 1924 Lilesville School on the cover and has lots of school class pictures. It tells of government programs, CWA, WPA and NYA and CCC camps to help the people get through these years.

Description: 384 pages, blue cover with an outline of Anson County on front. This book covers the years 1941-1949 and gives a "word picture" of Anson County during WWII. Coverage includes activities of churches, schools, draft board, rationing board, blackouts, Red Cross, scrap metal drives and savings bond drives. Deaths include seven Lilesville soldiers-manuevers and pictures of war brides and Lilesville servicemen.

Description: Originally published in three volumes, Clinton, South Carolina, 1974-1975. Consolidated, repaged, and reprinted with a new index and table of contents. Since no Anson County court minutes exist except for 1771 to 1777, the returns provided here contain information on some wills and estates no longer extant. Also included is the 1763 tax list which, although incomplete, is the earliest surviving tax list for the county.
