IN OBEDIENCE to the annexed Writ I james S. Auld sheriff of the County aforesaid on the 15th day of February 1813 attended by Adam Lockhart, James Hough, William Hammon, Thos. Smith, John K. Hutchison, John Lindsey, Hezekia Billingsley, Joseph Liles, Eli Liles, William Bennet, Isaac Dunn & Charles West, free holders unconnected with Margery Davis, late widow of William Henry Esqr. Decd. or the heirs of Devisees of Sd. William Henry by consanguinity of affinity and entirely disinterested, by me duly summoned, came in proper person to a certain plantation whereof the Sd. William Henry Decd. died seized and possessed, mentioned in the annexed writ lying on Cedar Creek and the waters thereof in the County aforesaid containing 475 acres and 1/2 more of less and the free holders aforesaid being duly sworn and required to allot and set off to Sd. Margery Davis one third part of Sd. 4475 1/2 acres of land as aforesaid did allot and set off to her the Sd. Margery Davis the part or portion of the aforesaid 275 1/2 acres of land included and comprised within the following limits and bounds (to wit) beginning at a stake a pine in John Hutchisons line and runs So. 82 Wt. 40 poles to a stake in the plantation near the dwelling house then So. 8 Et. 75 poles to a stake by a black jack, 2 red oaks & a hickory and thence Wt. 75 poles to a stake in the corner of the apple orchard then No. 25 Wt. 38 poles to a stake by 2 small sassafras and a small Cedar on the No. side of the Standback road then No. 15 Et. 300 poles to stake by 3 blackjacks & a pine in John Smith’s line then So. 16 Et. 80 poles to a stake by 3 black jacks then No. 82 Et. 20 poles to a stake by 2 black jacks & a pine then direct to the beginning containing one hundred andfifty eight and two thirds acres by the same more of less & including the dwelling house or mansion of Sd. William Henry Esqr. Decd. in which he generally dwelt next before his decease and all the offices and houses and buildings thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining, which being done I the said sheriff & free holders aforesaid put the said Margery Davis in possession of the premises and after Viz., on the 18th day of February 1813 I as aforesaid I the Sd. James S. Auld, sheriff, with the freeholders aforesaid come in proper person to another tract or parcel of land lying on Savannah Creek containing five hundred and fifty two acres and have laid off and allotted to the said Margery Davis one hundred and eighty four acres thereof Beginning at a white oak near said Savannah Creek and runs No. 65 Et. 160 poles to a stake by 2 pines & a red oak then No. 48 Wt. 210 poles to a stake by 3 pines & a post oak then So. 42 Wt.t 167 poles to a corner then to the beginning and afterwards on the 19th day of February 1813 as foresaid with the freeholder as aforesaid came in proper person to another tract or parcel of land on Cedar Creek and the waters thereof containing three hundred & ninety two acres and a half and have set off and allotted to her the Sd. Margery Davis one hundred & thirty one acres of land being his third part of the aforesaid 392 1/2 acres beginning at a pine by a white oak & 2 red oaks on the bank of Cedar Creek just below the mill and runs So. 80 Wt. 130 poles to a stake by a red oak & 2 hickories in Dunn’s line then with his line No. 5 Wt. 80 poles to Wades corner pine then No. 5 Wt. 1171 poles to a corner by 3 pines then No. 80 Et. 100 poles to a corner then So. 5 Wt. 117 poles to a corner then So. 8 Et. 36 poles to be Cowpen Branch then down the various courses thereof to Cedar Creek then up the Creek to the beginning. And on the 20th day of March the year aforesaid came on another piece and parcel of land lying in the County aforesaid being a square of two acres of land in the town of Sneydesborough and have laid off and allotted to the Sd. Margery Davis one- third thereof in the following manner beginning at the So. Wt. corner of Sd. square at the corner of west & north streets & runs east 118 poles then No. 6 poles then west 18 poles then So. 6 poles with west street to the beginning all which is submitted &c at Sneydesborough 20th March 1813.
