Will of HEZEKIAH HOUGH Sr.


In the name of God Amen. I HEZEKIAH HOUGH SENR of the State of North Carolina and the County of ANSON of Sound Mind and memory and Knowing the Mortality of my Body that it is appointed to Die do make Ordain and Constitute this my Last will and Testament in the following manner (that is) the property that I now posses I dispose with and positively order in the following manner--

Item I lend to my wife MARY HOUGH two hundred acres of land wereon I now live six negroes named PLEASANT SAM NANIE PATT LOT MARTIN & LITTLE BOB and increase also the stock of Cattle except what is hearafter given away,also the stock of hogs the whole of the house hold & kitchen furniture Plantation tools cask and all other tools of everysort during her natural life and after her decease to be disposed as is herafter directed

Item give unto my son JAMES HOUGH one half of all the land that I posses excepting the tracts of land herafter given away to my sd son James also one negro boy AUSTINE to him and his heirs

Item I give and bequeath my son JOHN HOUGH one half of all the land that I posseess except the tracts of land hereafter given away also one negro man named JACOB

Item I give and bequeth to my son WILLIAM HOUGH all the land above cedar creek to the road from the River PEE DEE to WILLIAM KIRBY line on ad road including the plantation I now live on also six negroes after my wife decd named PL--ANT NANIE POTT LOT MARTIN and LITTLE BOOB also all my stock of cattle hogs the whole of the household and kitchen furneture plantation tools casks and all other tools of every sort except what is hearafter given away after my sd wife dece, to him and his heirs forever-

Item I give and bequeath to my son HEZEKIAH HOUGH two hundred acres of land on the upper side of the New Road begining on a walnut on the gut near the river bank then with the road or line of my land to a small branch below the orchard field then down the branch untill it intersects with WILLAM KIRBY line also one negro man named JOE to him and his heirs

Item I give and bequeath to my sone MOODY HOUGH my tract of land on Brown Creek & Flat Jack of one hundred and fifty acres more or less also one negro man BOBB and one bed and furniture to him and his heirs

Item I give and beaqueath unto my daughter CHLOW MARTIN one cow and calf, also I lend unto my sd daughter one negro woman named GEAN and MARSHALL and their incerase during her natural life then I will that sd negro with their increase be equally devid between her heir lawful of her body,to them and their heirs

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughters MARY MAY one cow and calf also I lend unto my sd daughter one negro boy named BEN during her natural life then I will that sd negro be equallly divided between her heirs lawful of her body

Item I give and bequeath unto mly daughter MOLLY MASK one cow and calf,also I lend unto my sd daughter one nergro girl named CIEILY during her natural life then I will that sd negro with her increase be equally devided between her heirs lawful of her Body

Item I give and bequeth unto my daughter NANCY ROSS one cow and calf, also I lend unto my sd daughter one negro girl named LUCY during her natural life then I will that sd negro with her increase be equally devided between her heirs lawful of her body

Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter FANNY KINDRED one cow and calf also I lend unto my sd daughter FANNY one negro girl CEALY during her natural life then I will the sd negro be equally devided between her heirs lawful of her body

Item I give and bequeth unto my daughter ELIZABETH KNOX one cow and calf also I lend unto my sd daughter ELIZABETH one negro boy ALLIN during her natural life then I will that sd negro be equally divided between her heirs lawful of her body

I also nominate constitute and appoint JAMES HOUGH and WILLLIAM HOUGH my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament revoking all former wills by me made declareing this my last will and testament in witnes hwereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 7th day of Octo 1817 and of the Independance of america the forty first Signed Sealed and acknowledgee
