Will of WILLIAM MARTIN

In the name of God, Amen, WILLIAM MARTIN in the County of Anson and State of North Carolina being very sick and weak in body but in perfect mind and memory, thanks be given to God calling with mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will & testament that is to say principally and frist of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubting but it the general resurrection I shall recive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate where with it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give, demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form: -

First I give and bequeath to REBEKAH MARTIN my dearly beloved wife, Seventy five acres more or less of land including the dwelling house orchard, and plantation on which I now live together with all the household furniture for her use & the raising of my young children without any attention till her death then I do ordain constitute and puress my young son JAMES MARTIN with full power to process the aforesaid seventy five acres of land with every of the aforesaid premises beginning at the lower corner at a pine stump joining THOMAS WADE's higdon tract of land so running the various courses of the lines for quantity of seventy five acres as afore mentioned.

Secondly, I give and bequeath to my daughter SARAH MARTIN, one cow and calf.

Thirdly, I give to my daughter NANCY one cow.

Fourthly, I give to my dearly beloved wife REBEKAH MARTIN one bay mare four years old last May & one sorrel mare two years old last May

Fifthly and lastly I leave the residue of my adjacents lands in the hands of my Excecutors together with one mare named Pleasure and one rifle gun to be sold by them to the highest bidder then after my debts is settled the residue of the monty to be equally divided between my first children (to wit) WILLIAM MARTIN, JOHN THOMAS, ABRAHAM, CATHREN, LEWIS, ANDREW, ISAAC, and I do hereby utterly disavow revoke and disannul all and every other former Tesstaments, Wills, Legacies, Bequeaths, and Executors by me in any before named Willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety three.

Signed, sealed, published, pronounced and declard by the said WILLIAM MARTIN as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names.
