God bless those who serve our country!

My Dad has been in the Army for 23 years.  He spent just over six years living in Germany.  Soon he will be in the Retired National Guard Reserves.

He was to retire in the fall of 2003.  But because of the war with Iraq he was denied retirement.  His unit was put on alert two times in 2003.  I was so scared that they were going to send my Dad to Iraq.    We found out just a couple of days before Christmas 2003 that his unit was called off of alert.  Five of the six units alerted were deployed between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

My Grandpa served in the Navy.  And had his training at the Naval Base by Chicago Illinios.  Between serving our country and moving a lot as a child my Grandpa has lived in every state of the United States.

My step brother Andy is also in the Army National Guard just like our Dad.

My cousin Nathan served three years in the Army and is now in the Army National Guard too.

I wonder if when I grow up I will be in the Army too?
