Prophets and visionaries, nobles of House Beaumayn have only recently returned to the Autumn World in what is becoming known as the Second Resurgence. Imprisoned in Arcadia for ancient crimes, House Beaumayn was further punished with a potent spell enacted by House Eiluned known as the Caul of Silence which stripped the memory that such a house had ever existed from the minds of all fae outside Arcadia. With their release from prison, the curse has unravelled, and knowledge of the House of the Dark Star is once again available to those with the lore or Rememberance to retrieve it.
Unfortunately, with memory of House Beuamayn's name and banner come memory of its ancient betrayal and disgrace. Few noble houses are accepting of these pariahs of the Seelie Court. Only House Scathach is so mistrusted. As a rule, only nobles of House Fiona and House Liam overlook the disgrace of House Beaumayn. Nonetheless, the House of the Dark Star remains unswervingly loyal to its Seelie allegience.
Gifted (or cursed) by Dàn with glimpses of possible futures, House Beaumayn strives against the waxing might of the Elder Dark which heralds the coming Winter. While these visions have often served to avert misfortune, the weight of foreknowing is heavy. When haunted by an especially grim prophecy, members of House Beaumayn are prone to falling into their Unseelie natures. Those who cannot find their way back to their Seelie ideals are often driven from the house, which ill-tolerates any who would bring further shame upon their already questionable reputation. Their ability to forsee the schemes of the most ruthless members of the Unseelie Court carries its own price, and these agents of Winter eagerly target House Beaumayn in return.
Boon
Sensitive to the tapestry of fate, members of the House of the Dark Star are granted occasional visions of the future. These show not pre-ordained events, but merely possibilities, and are often cryptic (Intelligence + Gremayre to fathom these portents, difficulty 8). Occasionally, these visions can be brought on deliberately by force of will (spend 1 Willpower, and roll Glamour versus difficulty 11 minus Rememberance trait), although repeated or injudicious dependence on these visions seems to rob them of their reliability. Additionally, all members of House Beaumayn have at least some tenuous recollection of events beyond the Mists, and get a free dot in Rememberace Background at character creation.
Flaw
Members of House Beaumayn cause a disturbance in the tapestry which Thallain and Shadow Court members can detect. While Beaumayn will not necessarily be attacked on sight, Courtiers of Shadow and their Thallain allies will do their utmost to make life miserable for members of this House. Worse still, little sympathy is to be had from Beaumayn's putative Seelie allies. On account of the infamy of their long betrayal and imprisonment, members of House Beaumayn suffer a +2 penalty to all Social rolls when dealing with sidhe of any Houses except Fiona and Liam.
