Both rabbits and guinea pigs should both have a water bottle, a food bowl present in their cage. Water should be changed daily and food should be given twice a day. One hand-full in the morning and one more in the evening. You should have a seperate bowl for the food so this way the food does not become apart of the waste products. Rabbits and Guinea Pigs and be fed the same type of food; which is rabbit pellets.

Guinea Pigs can be offered veggies more frequently than rabbits. Rabbits should be given veggies no more than once every other day. Your Rabbit of Guinea Pig may experience diarhea due to the change in diet if it is your first time offering it this type of food. If you pet does experience diahrea, stop feeding all veggies and soft foods and stick to the regular diet of rabbit pellets and water.

The cages should be kept very clean so that your pet can be very happy. The bathroom corners of the cage should be cleaned out daily and the whole entire cage should be cleaned at least once a week. With rabbits you may want to try providing them with a cat litter box. This will be much easier and more convenient for you when it comes time for cleaning. Once you have learned where your Rabbit's "bathroom" corner is then this can be the place where the cat box can be provided. Unfortunately this will not work for all Guinea Pigs, some may choose a "bathroom" corner, other's may not; instead just excreting waste products everywhere.

When breeding your rabbits you should make sure that both of your rabbits are healthy and getting a very good diet. The rabbits should be at least 6 months of age.
When placing the rabbits together, always make sure that you bring the doe(female) to the buck's(male) cage. If done the other way the female may end up injuring the male. After you observe that the two have mated you can remove the female. It may be a good idea to allow the two to stay together for the day to make sure that mating was done successfully.
Then you can remove the doe and place her in her hutch where she will have the babies. The gestation period of the rabbit is about 28-32 days. And they can have from 2-9 at a time. You should allow the mother to nurse the babies for about 8 weeks. This is to make sure that the kittens get all the necessary nutrients that they need from the mother. And just because they decide to eat on their own doesn't mean that they are ready to leave the nest. The babies still will need the mothers milk. Taking the babies away too early may cause them to perish. If the case is not that bad it may just get a case of the sniffles.
The doe should be provided with bedding or a box that can be placed in the cage where she can have the babies. When the mother is ready to give birth, a few hours before she will start to pluck fur from her belly and all over her body. And she also will gather other materials in her mouth and will line the nest with her fur.
When the babies are born they will be born naked and blind. The mother will leave the babies in the nest that she provided for them before they were born. The mother will only come to them when it is feeding time. The mother will feed them 2-3 times for the day. Usually rabbits in the wild do this to prevent predators from knowing where the nest is. So whenever she goes there it is only for a brief period of time.

This is Rufus in the back-yard.Breeding Guinea Pigs Breeding Guinea Pigs and rabbits is very different. When babie Guinea Pigs are born they are born fully developed and ready to eat their own food. The male(boar) may be kept with the female(soe). The gestation period for the Guinea Pigs is about 2 months. It is very important that if you decide to breed your guinea pigs, it is very important that your female is no older than 8 months old. The best time to breed them is when they are 5 months old. The only way that you should breed your female guinea-pig if it is past that age, is if it has had babies from before. This is because the females pelvic bone is flexible during the time before it turns 8 months of age. By then the bone hardens and it becomes in-flexible. Soes that are bred when they are too old are not able to give birth to the young and a cesarian section must be done. If one is not performed then the Soe will die.
