International Superstar Soccer 64

If you've ever played any of the I.S.S. games on the Super NES, Sega, or the PlayStation, you'll know that the N64 version has to be something special. Well, is it?

You'd have to be pretty thick if you didn't know the main aim of soccer, so I'm taking a wild guess, and presuming you already know (and also saving my poor brain from exhaustion). Although the game does not feature actual clubs or players, there are some recognisable players, like Redonda, who to look at, is obviously Maradona.

O.K; down to the actual game. There are 6 modes of play:
Open Game- A one-off match against any team you choose.
International Cup- Basically, this is the World Cup.
World League- Take control of a team, and play 35 other countries TWICE, to try become the World's Best Team.
Penalty Kick- Your guess is as good as mine.
Scenario- Take control of a team in the dying seconds of a match. Normally, your losing, or minus a player, or even both.
Training- Practice free-kicks, corners, or just a game against no opposition.

There are loads of options, including formations, strategies, FK, CK, and penalty takers. Loads of special moves are also incuded, like the step-over, one-two, and even the good old I.S.S. trademark move, the overhead flick. There is also a create player option, and an edit name option, so you can put the real player's names in (very clever Konami).

Graphics:
Beautiful graphics and animation, even when the camera is zoomed up-close. The best looking football game on any console! 10.
Sound:
Good commentry that really gets you excited. Cheesy music, but the crowd effects are very realistic. 8.5
Playability:
I got this game in Summer '97, and I'm still playing it every day! If you like football (or soccer to you Americans), then this is the only game you'll ever need. 10.
Lifespan:
The World League will take ages to beat, and there are 5 difficulty settings and a multiplayer option. This'll last for years! 10.
Sixty Four Bitz Verdict:
Everyone should own this game! It's superb in every way! Forget the money-swindling shambles that is the FIFA series, this is the best footy game on any console! 10.
