Ceria

Ceria returns your glance a bit shyly with clear emerald eyes. She is a diminutive woman, around 5'2", with fair skin and delicate features. Although she is timid, the sparkle in her eyes shows that the hard working woman can be very friendly and fun-loving.
Ceria is wearing a simple brown dress with the characteristic apron of a Baker. Her dark hair is tied in a runner's tail that hangs down past her hips. Ceria is wearing the knot of a journeyman Baker at Telgar Weyr.
Two firelizards, a brown and a green are often found perched on Ceria's shoulders or watching her from nearby as she works. A small blue can often be found in her pocket, with another somewhere nearby. Ceria's fair also has 2 bronzes and a young queen.
Ceria appears to be 24 Turns, 0 months, and 0 days old.

Background

Ceria is the youngest of eight children and the only girl of the lot. In the small farmhold that was her home, females are looked on as generally inferior to males. Ceria, being as small as she was, was deemed unsuitable for many aspects of farmwork that her older brothers were capable of. She worked hard at other tasks such as cooking, mucking stables, and cleaning, but her parents looked on her as a burdent to the family. Because of this attitude, Ceria developed a very low self-esteem. Finally, when Ceria had 15 Turns, her brother Erryl ran away. After a few months, the family received word that he'd been spotted at Benden Weyr. Ceria's parents decided she was the only one who could be spared to look for him, so she was sent off to Benden.

Benden Weyr

Ceria arrived at Benden the day before gold Kimbrith rose. The resulting flight gave the boldbred girl a quick immersion into Weyr life. It would also affect her life later on. After staying at the Weyr for several sevendays, Ceria managed to discover that her brother had, indeed, been there, butr he had moved on to unknown regions. During this time, she worked in the kitchen at Benden, befriended a boy named Alexi, and Impressed a green firelizard who she named Emmy. After spending so much time away from home, Ceria began realize that all of Pern did not agree with her hold's narrow-minded view of women. She started to feel as though she belonged in the Weyr, a feeling of belonging, she'd never had at home. Ceria then made the decision to make Benden Weyr her home.

Candidacy

Soon after Ceria made this decision, Kimbrith clutched and Benden began riding Search. One night while she was in the Galleries looking at the eggs, first Alexi and then Ceria herself were Searched and asked to Stand for Kimbrith's clutch. Thus began her life as a candidate. During her Candidacy Ceria made many new friends and when the day of the Hatching came, she gladly watched many of them Impress. Unfortunately, Ceria's lifemate was not to be found among Kimbrith's clutch, and she walked off the Sands alone. Although Ceria was understandably disappointed, she managed to put the experience behind her as she reverted to her former status of kitchen worker.

BakerCraft & Telgar Weyr

Ceria began attending baker classes at the training center at High Reaches Weyr, and soon after that, Master Ofira asked her to join the BakerCraft. Ceria willingly accepted an apprenticeship, and she used it to good advantage. She learned a lot and often sent treats to the Weyrlings by way of her firelizard. During this time, Benden Weyr started experiencing a severe water shortage and a situation at Telgar Weyr arose that required many of the Bendenites, including the Weyrlings, to move to Telgar. Because many of her friends were Weyrlings, Ceria asked, and was granted permission, to transfer to Telgar as well. After the Weyrlings graduated, Ceria and D'thon, rider of blue Wroxath, struck up a relationship. Ofira was not very approving of this and she warned Ceria, much to the apprentice's embarrassment, not to do anything unbecoming. Fortunately, Ceria was promoted to Journeyman, freeing her to pursue the relationship. After a while, Ceria became pregnant, and D'thon asked her to be his weyrmate. Their daughter, Adaria was born and is now fostered with an assistant headwoman, Dossa.

Candidacy (Take Two!)

As Ceria neared her 22nd turnday, the time for Search at Telgar Weyr approached once more. This time the clutch was of Kindre's gold Herath and M'hryn's bronze Talibenth. One day while Ceria was in the living cavern, she was asked by T'saren, bronze Solarith's rider, to step outside with several others. Much to Ceria's suprise, she was once more asked to Stand for a clutch. She accepted, and although her Candidacy was a bit difficult because of the time away from D'thon, and the age difference between her and many of the other Candidates, she enjoyed her time. But her lifemate, if there was one out there, was not on the Sands this time either, so she once more returned to her duties as a Baker.

Candidacy - Third Time's The Charm

Ceria was close to her 24th turnday was close at hand when she was Searched for the third and final time, again at Telgar Weyr. Nimiriel's gold Daelyth and N'var's bronze Palineth created the latest clutch. This time it was Jerissa's green Amrieth who deemed her worth of Standing for the clutch. Once more, age difference affected her relationships with her fellow Candidates. However she became close to Isai who had been a Baker apprentice before Search.

Impression

Hatching date arrived and Ceria filed out onto the Sands for the third time since her entry to weyr life. She didn't have many expectations of the outcome, instead choosing to leave her hopes low and her options open. This hatching was a bit differnt from any other she'd experienced, since a heavy fog concealed the Sands from a clear view and hatching dragons were difficult to see. She was pleasantly surprised to find a lifemate on the Sands when brown Carabeth approached her.
