Favorite Games - Super Mario RPG
Super Mario RPG is one of my favorite games from quite a while ago.
So I decided to try and make a summary page on this particular game and see how it goes - and then I may make similar summary pages for games that are really some of
my favorites - like Final Fantasy VII. So, basically this is a test page.
 Ok, here are the basics - Breath of Fire II is an RPG game that was made by Capcom for the Super Nintendo system. Personally, I like RPGs, and I didn't find out about this one until a couple of months ago,
around April 2001, but this game is relatively old. In this game, you can get a total of nine different characters, and your battle party can be made up of four characters at a time. (Quite standard, really,
for an RPG.)
At right, you can find a brief overview / summary of the characters in the game that join your party. *The character information here was compiled from a couple different walkthroughs
of Breath of Fire II: specifically, David Martin's (FireFalcon12) and Ben Siron's walkthroughs. Right now, I think I am only missing Spar, who I have not yet had join my party, so I am unable to take a screenshot of him,
as I have with all the other characters seen at right - so I will just wait to include his summary / statistics until I reach the point that Spar joins the party.
What else, what else... As with all RPG games, you have a different battle screen than the map screen - and here it is! There's not too much to say about this, really. The characters are
always located in the lower right, and the enemies are always in the upper left. Very simple. Also, as far as playing in battle mode - it's sort of weird, but I guess this is common with the older RPGS - you set up all the characters' moves at once for the following turn,
and then it goes straight through the turn, during which you can't do anything but watch. This is quite different to me, since the RPG I was most familiar with on SNES has been Chrono Trigger, which has a nicer timed aspect to attacking.
In this game, speed is a part of the characters' statistics, but a faster speed simply means that that particular character performs their move for that turn before characters who have a lower speed.
Here I have included a picture of Bleu performing her Hail spell. This is just to show a character using a magic attack in battle, and because Bleu's currently my favorite character [although she is sort of "snaky"; yes, that's what I said ^_^]
as she is an incredible magician. Nina was my favorite character before Bleu was added to the party, as she is also a great magic user. However, Bleu is an even better sorceress than Nina, and she has a better attack and defense rating.
As I have not yet finished the game, I think that I should hold off on filling in this section. After I finish the game, (if that ever happens ^_^), then I will come back and give a more thorough review and comment
section here. So far, I will just say that I like the game, although there are a couple of things that bug me - for example, if you try to heal a character and then that character dies in the next round before the first character
can heal him/her, the spell for healing does not rotate on to the next character in sequence, but instead is still performed on the fallen character, and to no effect.
