Kanariya is one of the most melancholy of Ayumi's songs in my opinion. Sometimes I like this song, and sometimes I don't. The only reason I think I like it sometimes is because it's somehow haunting. I can't really describe the effect of this song well.

My favorite versions of this song are the original version and the Engrave Mix. The Power Mix, Hiroshi's Mix, and Struggle Mix are also not bad.

In my opinion, the original and engrave mix are the most haunting. The harmonies of the background voices in the chorus of the original version of Kanariya are very eerie to me. You just have to hear it to understand what I'm trying to say. The light background music for the chorus in the engrave mix is quite eerie as well, though not quite as haunting as the original, or main radio, version. The engrave mix is also the shortest version of Kanariya - at a length of 2:42.
