Sallies I think we should leave the debt
ceiling where it is, but change our
thinking: think of it as a ceiling, with a
window that opens! This would achieve two
things: if we need an extra ten bucks, Congress
could vote on a more precise an individual
spending, but yet be more accountable and the
second thing is, Congress, and I assume all
congressperson's would be memo-ed and required
to vote, would have a hatch on
all new spending purposed: not only would new
spending have to be brought, as a bill, but a
new debt ceiling would have to be considered,
too; all of this to hold the line on spending. Arvin do you think this idea is new, that it has merit; I doubt it? |
