Why We Love Him

Link....ah, where to start? There are so many reasons why Link is so loveable, yet none come to mind whenever I want to state them. >.<

Perhaps Link appeals to me because I'm a Metroid fan...and perhaps other Metroid fans feel the same. After all, Link and Samus have quite a few things in common. Both (apparently) lost their parents at an early age, both were raised by a race that wasn't their own, both are strong and courageous, and both work alone. Link is probably a little less hard than Samus, but then again, Samus never had a real companion. Link at least had Epona, and for the most part, Navi and Tatl.
Perhaps he's loved because he's such a unique character. Even those who haven't played the Zelda series know who he is upon first sight, and his good looks and elfish appearance certainly do make him stand out from the crowd. He's a mature and intellegent character, which many do like to see in a hero, although sometimes you need screwballs like Mario for a good laugh...
Even as a kid, he's still adorable...and he still packs quite a punch. You'd have to pity the poor fools who underestimate kids and women as heros....they usually end up kicking more ass than Duke Nukem, with or without bubble gum. Specific people who come to mind are, namely, a certian Gerudo and a mass of grey matter...
Link's versitality is a plus as well. In any game, from his first ever adventure to the more recent Super Smash Brothers and Majora's Mask, he has many different attacks, a good amount of HP, and even a good attacking speed. As many found with the Metroid series, it was pretty difficult to get bored when there is so much you can do with one character's moves.

And now here we are, eagerly awaiting the release of two games for the Gamecube starring two of our all-time favorite characters. Fortunately, we'll continue to see Link around for years to come. After all, great heros never die or are forgotten, as Nintendo has proved to us time and again.
