CSX Special Train

August 8, 2001

The eleven car CSX train arrived in Houston from Jacksonville, FL on Sunday Aug 5, under CSX power, F40 #9992 & 9993. Wednesday, Aug 8, 8:07 am, lead by UP SD70 #4431, the special leaves Settegast Yard, heading north.  Houston humidity was causing camera lense to fog over, after sitting in airconditioned car, otherwise this would have been a much better photo!  Switchers on the left of photo are also heading this way with a long string of freight cars.  Naturally they prevented me from getting some great shorts of the CSX Special as it slowly pulled out of yard.

The photos below were shot a couple of miles North of Settegast, as train crossed Little York at a fairly high speed.

The UP Business car "Stanford" was added to train in Houston, and will eventually return with the SD70 after going on to Atlanta.
