Other teams may run as hard, or play as smart, but they will never have the extra Factor that is NIETZSCH.
Even the name is mythical.
NIETZSCH FACTOR has its origins in a very simple play the WES-U-Bees used in the early days of Ultimate, when Wesleyan acquired a player called
Nietzsch,
who was really, really fast.
How fast was he, you ask? Well, he was so fast that when his team was receiving the pull, one of his teammates would catch the disc and throw it as far as he could into the opposing endzone -- and Nietzsch would already be there to catch the goal before the opposition knew what happened.... or so the really old timers would tell us (slightly less) old timers, in the early days of the team, before electricity or modern truth serums.
So, as time permits, I'll post any and all records and other historical documents I receive from the Nietzsches of yore, so that others can see a little of our team's, and our game's, past...
I'd love to hear from other Nietzsch alums. And I'm very afraid that today's team doesn't remember the team cheers from long ago, like "Rotcaf Hcsztein", "Y Pay More" and "zzzzzaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaa!!!", so if you remember any of the old cheers, send them my way and I'll post them. Likewise stories about the team or players.
Who can forget playing #1-ranked UMASS at Regionals for the right to advance to Nationals, and having Arnie refuse to leave the field because he "didn't want to lose his buzz...."
