The scientific principle under the Bionic Ear allows for what many people once thought was impossible. It allows deaf people to hear sound even if they were born deaf.

The Bionic Ear has helped thousands of deaf people to hear and therefore, has been very beneficial to the deaf part of the society.

The earlier version of implants had only one electrode, and were called single channel implants which was placed close to the cochlear. The new implants have multiple electrodes and are called multi-channel cochlear implants. The latter are more frequency sensitive and give a better speech perception and production.

The latest Bionic Ear is able to provide people who are deaf to hear with better quality. The only downside with the latest Bionic Ear is that is a bit expensive, however, isn't the ability to hear again worth more than money?
