BAZZA'S BACK

BASSANIO CONTINI, guest of honour at any society party worth the name last year, is back in town. After repeated rumours that his financial position could not sustain his life style, he dropped out of the social round last spring, so Venetian was surprised to see him at Bard's exclusive night-club with his usual cronies. He told me, with his famous smile, to "Watch this space". What for, I wonder? I hear he has been seen in the company of Antonio Vitelli, the millionaire importer. Job-hunting maybe?

HIS HIGHNESS the Prince of Morocco is currently enjoying a Mediterranean cruise after his recent divorce from his third wife, the former American socialite, Sue-Ellen Frommer. Sue-Ellen's settlement has, it is said, cost him a seven-figure sum, which may dissuade him from going courting again in the near future...

¿QUE?

IN ARAGON, meanwhile, we hear that Prince Miguel is coming under increasing pressure from his mother and her advisors to marry and settle down, but so far without success. A stream of suitable girls have been invited to spend time at the palace but the Prince seems to be more interested in compiling the definitive history and genealogy of his family which he has been working on for several years. Well, there's no accounting for taste!
FANCY FREE?

ALSO BACK in circulation is the beautiful Portia, daughter and heir of the billionaire shipping owner, Theo Phillippides, who died in March. She was seen visiting friends near Cape d'Antibes in July, and at last week's wedding of the Duke of Illyria she was not short of dancing partners. So far she doesn't appear to have a steady beau, although with beauty and a fortune, she should have plenty of offers!
POLICE WERE called to a disturbance at Bard's night club last week, after a dispute between Gratiano Teobaldi, Venezia's volatile striker, and a bouncer. Although charges were not pressed, Venezia's manager will doubtless suggest that Grazzi keeps his passions for the pitch in future!
