Robyn is Here!

Question: what type of student were you at highscool?

Robyn: "I was the type that always attended the lessons, but never did the homework. I didn't put my hand up for every question, but when I did I said something damn good. I was doing alot of quire and I liked history and biology. Math and physics was very hard for me. It's interesting subjects but I don't think that part of my brain is developed enough."

Q: How do you think science in school could be better?

R: "It should be more high tech in the education. Simple and easy to use. I, for instance, love Virtual Reality. But when it comes down to formulas it gets boring."

Q: How would you like the audience to view you as artist?

R: "Like I am. Nice, happy, social and strong. I know what I want and I'm not particulary styled. The record company likes it that way. I'm 16 years old and write my own lyrics. Cause of that I shouldn't be so styled. I'm not going to be a product."

Q: What's the album about?

R: "About growing up. To be in that age. This is the hardest years in the whole life you know. It's a youthalbum simple as that. Most of the songs is about love. Almost all songs all over the world is about that you know. The first song that was done ever was surely a lovesong. Love has so many sides so it's so easy to vary the theme."

Q: You've said that you're tired that so many soul-artists sing about sex.

R: "I am! I think that soul in itself is so sexy that you shouldn't really have to sing about sex. You can have a sexy voice or sing in a sexy way. Just to sing about sex was fun in the beginning but now it's getting old. Even if there's many songs in that category which is good."

Q: Where do you get inspiration for your songs?

R: From everywhere around me. A human being is bubbling with emotions you know. I never sit down and think like "now I'm gonna write a song". The inspiration can come from friends, from family, from myself, things that's happened to me or things I have read. From anything actually."

Q: Do you have a rolemodel?

R: "Aretha Franklin is a big rolemodel. Emotionally. How she sings. She can sing Helan går (Hmmmm, swedish song to use when drinking, Anders comment :) and it still sounds nice. She's incomparable. Then there's TLC and all those in my age. They're not rolemodels. But they're inspiring."

Q: How does it feel to be famous and to get loads of attention?

R: "Most of my contacts is through my recording label BMG. I think I'm managing quite easily. Cause both of my parents are actors I know some things about the bussines. I'm not suffering from it. But I don't think it's like the worlds coolest thing either. I have nothing against that people I don't know says hi to me on the streets, but when they call me at home I get pissed off. People are calling at 3 AM when I'm sleeping. It sucks that people don't respect that you have to sleep."

Q: Are you nervous about how your new album will be met by the audience and the critics?

R: "No, I am not cause I know that I've done my best. If they want to diss the album they can do it. Of course I'm nervous that people wont buy the album. But I'm not nervous about critics."

Q: How should a guy be to get you interested?

R: "He has to have a sense of humour. It's a must! He has to be attentive of other people and not just do his thing. It's a plus if he's intelligent. He should have good taste in music and big clothes. Cause that's sexy as hell."

Q: Where do you wanna live?

R: Sweden is a country where I want to get and raise children in. But I don't want to live here when I get older. I've got a very hard time with this "average-thing" that exist in Sweden. You can't say what you think and you can't dress challenging. Average is such a stupid word. It can mean anything. It can be really much for you and really little for me." (Average isn't the actual translation, the original word is "lagom", a word that's said to only exist in Sweden and really can't be translated. Anders comment.)

Q: In what period of time would you like to live?

R: "I don't want to go back. Then I'd rather live in the future. Today there's so many sick problems and injustice. I would like to live in a perfect society where you can wash your clothes in something that's not hurtful for the enviroment. Where it's not necessary to use dish- or wash-powder.

Q: Favourite TV-show?

R: "Apart from MTV I like Fresh Prince in Bel Air and Ricki Lake. Ricki Lake is one of those sleezy shows. It's terribly fun to watch. You feel thin and smart cause everyone in the show is so stupid and fat." (Ooops, nicely said. Anders comment =)

Q: Favourite movie?

R: "I've probably seen E.T. 100 times and I cry as much everytime. I like actionmovies like Batman too. It was wonderful."

Q: Favourite book? R: "Lord of the Rings was the latest book I read. (That's Tolkien, I'm not sure about the american title. Anders comment.) It was terribly good. I think it's the best book I've ever read."

Q: Favourite food?

R: "I love to visit Mac Donalds. I could eat there everyday. And I like turkish food."

Q: What technical thing would you like to invent. (The interview is in a schoolmagazine about technology, that explains some of the questions. Anders comment.)

R: I'd like to invent a hill that turns around so that you never have to go upwards. Of those things already in existance I would have liked to invent the telephone. It's probably the most important thing there is. Without that we woulnd't be here today. Without that we would be totally isolated."

Q: It's so much technology involved in the recording of an album. Do you understand any of the talk in the studio?

R: "I understand what they're doing. It's incredible what you can to with the technology in a studio. They can totally change how a voice sounds. I think it's good that technology keeps developing as long as the old sound still remains."

Q: What is a dynamometer?

R: "Oh! That's one of those you measure with. Preasure in the air or something. You use to hang stuff on it. In school they always break. (Measures force. Anders comment.)"

Q: What is an Ohm?

R: "It has something to do with energy. A unit. I know how to draw it. Is it current or voltage?"

Q: What is a mol?

R: "I have no idea."
