1. Philip Morris U.S.A. Withdraws Support for National Smokers Alliance: Yahoo! Philip Morris U.S.A. today announced that it is withdrawing future financial support to the National Smokers Alliance (NSA) in reaction to an ethics complaint filed against Senator John McCain (R-AZ).

2. You Are Being Told What To Do In Your Own Home: In Pursuit of Smoke-Free Living Space, Apartment dwellers fear health risks from neighbors' cigarettes. By Bernadette Tansey. The movement that has banished smoking from California workplaces and bars is spreading to the last bastion of freedom for some smokers -- their own apartments or condominiums. - AND - Health Central. Smoke-free homes help smokers quit. Smokers who live in smoke-free homes may be more likely to kick the habit than smokers who can smoke freely in their place of residence, results of a new study suggest.

3. Boston Firm Eyeing Multibillion-dollar Tobacco Settlement Fee: SF Gate. Five law firms could pick up more than $2 billion for their work on the national tobacco settlement that is expected to net Massachusetts $8.3 billion. Gov. Paul Cellucci has called the figure ``obscene'' and Attorney General Thomas Reilly has said he will fight such an award.

4. Cigarettes cheaper for Hill lawmakers: By Barbara J. Saffir. The Washington Times. Members of Congress and other Hill insiders can buy cigarettes in the House and Senate without paying the District of Columbia's hefty cigarette tax or its sales tax.
