Dawn
The silence of the night
There is no thought of light
The stillness seems to come
from all around
As daytime creatures sleep
Their dreams themselves will
keep
About them goes the night without
a sound
On still and silent feet
The blackness is complete
The darkest hour comes without
a care
And then a tiny glow
Of sunlight starts to show
It cuts right through the still
soft evening air
That single little ray
Enough to start the day
Then others tell the darkness
to be gone
The birds and critters start
To rise and then take heart
Another day has come in with
the dawn
