On April 27th the Harrisburg Club of Soroptimist International celebrated their annual spring awards event.  The online Zoom meeting included Club members and guests for an hour of sharing, recognition and appreciation.

The annual program celebrates women and girls as well as organizations for their outstanding achievements, service and contributions to the community with monetary awards.  This year the Central Pennsylvania Literacy Council, the Bethesda Mission Women's Shelter and Peace Promise were recognized. Each group provides support and encouragement to women hoping to re-enter the workplace.

Each year the Club gives two cash awards to women who are single parents, head-of household and the primary financial support for their families.  The Live your Dream award supports women who are advancing their education seeking to improve their employment status.   The winners this year are both pursuing degrees in nursing.

Soroptimist Club members continue to support the Salvation Army programs with donations for seniors and children, and to make knitted baby hats for  UPMC Hospital.

Margaret Weaver Scholarship will be announced in late May or early June,
