Sons of Thunder
Character Profiles

Main Characters

Trent Malloy
Age: late 20’s to early 30’s
Hair: Blond
Eyes: Blue
Height: 5’ 10”
Family:
Trent is the eldest of
four. Mother – Katie, Father (deceased) – Thunder, Brother –
Thomas Joseph (Tommy, late teens), Brother – Tyler (?), sister – Tandy
(?)
Background:
The earliest information we
have about Trent’s childhood comes from the episode “Sons of
Thunder.” When he was around 11 or so, Carlos, he, and two other
friends were looking at a friend’s father's gun. Trent and one of the
two friends began to fight over the gun, having a tugging war.
The gun went off and killed the friend. It scarred him for life,
despite Carlos' assurance that it was an accident. As a result, he will
not carry a gun and relies on his martial arts training, and later
throwing stars, for defense.
Perhaps as another result of
that incident, Trent turned rebellious as a teenager, according to the
episode “Undercover”. That was when he met Cordell Walker, got
into martial arts as one of his “Kick Drugs Out of America” students,
and got straightened out.
As a young adult, Trent
dropped out of seminary to join the army, much to the displeasure of
his father, who was a Pastor of his own church in Dallas. Using
his martial arts skills, he became a hand-to-hand combat instructor in
the Army Rangers (Green Berets), where he attained the rank of
Sergeant.
When his father passed away,
Trent moved back home to help out his mother financially and with his
younger siblings. With Cordell Walker’s help, he opened his own
dojo, Thunder Karate, and started a Personal Protection business on the
side. The Personal Protection business later expanded to include
private investigation.
In the SOT episode "Moment of
Truth", he and Carlos became partners and opened Thunder Investigations
together. The new office is located over the bar Uppercuts, which
is owned by Butch McMann, from whom they rent the space.
Misc:
His full first name is Trenton.
Trent has a third degree black belt (“Fighting Back”)
The family dog is a Golden Retriever named Moses.
The Malloy Family address is 118 Providence Way.
Trent has been set up by Carlos on many unsuccessful blind dates (“On the Border”).
Trent rode a Harley Davidson in “Sons of Thunder”. The motorcycle
disappeared (back under a tarp in his mom’s garage?) and since
“Undercover” has driven a 1973 Corvette Stingray.

Carlos Sandoval
Age: late 20’s to early 30’s
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height: 6’
Family: Sister – Teresa Estrella, (Nephew – Jesse), Brother – Hector
(deceased), Nephew – Hector (Wife Carmen and daughter), Mother - ?
Background:
As a boy of 12, Carlos saw his brother killed by drug lord “El
Vaquero”. (“Undercover”) He thought that Hector was doing
drugs, but later found out that his brother was killed because he
refused to sell them anymore.
According to the episode “Royal Heist” Carlos was in a gang himself as
a teenager, but quickly got out of it when he realized he could be
doing more with his life. We also know that he hung around in
pool halls during high school (“Undercover”).
He started out in “Sons of Thunder” as a uniformed police officer who
gets in the sights of a serial killer. By the time we see
“Undercover” Carlos is working undercover for Walker and
Trivette. In his next appearance, “Everyday Heroes”, he is a
detective.
Carlos remained a detective with the Dallas Police Department until
“Moment of Truth” when his partner was killed. Rather than sit by
and let another detective handle the case (Det. Ryan), Carlos turned in
his badge so he could purse the killer on his own. Trent
came to his aid, and as a result of successfully capturing the killer,
they teamed up permanently.
Misc:
Carlos was on the DPD at least 3 years prior to renewing his friendship with Trent in SOT.
Carlos is the quintessential ladies’ man, “King of the three day relationship” (“On the Border”).
He was a Big Brother in “Royal Heist”.
Carlos drove a Dodge Viper in “Undercover”, probably only for his
undercover assignment. In “Team Cherokee” he had a non-descript
dark sedan, most likely police-issue. In “Daddy’s Girl”, his
vehicle was a black Dodge Durango which we assume was his own.

Butch
McMann
Age: mid to late 40’s?
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Height: 6’3”
Family: daughter Nancy Jones (“Daddy’s Girl).
Butch was Golden Gloves champion in his youth. He had an
affair with Irene Jones, and the result was a daughter, Nancy, about whom
he didn’t learn until years later. During the course of his
boxing career, he suffered from a detached retina and had to give it
up. He then tried to join the police force but was not accepted
due to his medical condition. He became a private investigator
himself until he tired of “peeking in other people’s windows”, and
opened the bar, Uppercuts (“Daddy’s Girl”).
"Butch" is a nickname. His real name is Marion McMann.

Kim Sutter
Age: In the episode “Thunder By Your Side” she was 28.
Hair: Red
Height:
Kim worked for Butch and did all of his advertising when he opened
Uppercuts. Thanks to some scheming by Butch, she was hired by
Trent and Carlos as their office manager (“Daddy’s Girl”). She
hoped to become a PI herself one day (“Lost and Found”).
Kim’s father left her and her mother when she was young, and she always blamed herself (“Lost and Found”).
Her full first name is Kimberly.
