Moss Nook Site Today

mn2day1.jpg

This is the new housing estate where Moss Nook once stood, actually the estate doesn't look to bad in the spring sunshine, but when you get close up....

Pic on the left (below) is a view of Simonsway, i remember running down that long road during cross country after emerging from Big Wood.
Pic on the right (below) is a photo of The Cornishman, when i was at the Moss Nook site only the 1st and 2nd years attended, but i wonder how many ex 'Nookies' used to frequent this pub before the school became South Wythenshawe High?

left below : pic of the new bussiness park where our school field once lay, to be honest if schools do have to be demolished (and  i'm yet to be convinced), the sports fields should NEVER be built on, they should remain open spaces for the community to enjoy. Not only has Wythenshawe lost most of its high schools, its also losing most of its open spaces.
right below:The only criticism i had of Moss Nook was the school dinners, they were useless, i remember most of the time we got salads with stale buttered bread, things got so bad , i had to buy my mates puddings for 5p, because i was so hungry. If nobody was willing to sell, after school i went to this shop(yep its still there 30yrs later) where i bought 5 massive sausage rolls for 25p, before i got the bus (104, 103, 106) to Brownley road, which cost 2p.
