"How many bottles of vodka did you say you wanted for this machine , comrade"

controltech1.jpg

HI.

My name is Dave Dawber.  I left SWHS in 1974 (I think).  I found this old photo which my mum had until she passed away in 2000.

In 1973, the school was asked by Manchester Education Authority to provide a stand at the Ideal Homes Exhibition which was held in Manchester that year.  South Wythenshawe High School was chosen and subsequently our Control Technology class, taught by Jim Madders, was called up to bat.  The attached picture appeared on the front page of the Manchester Evening News and shows me (complete with Polo Fruit in mouth) explaining the complicated workings of whatever that contraption was, to a man called Dudley Fiske, who I believe at the time was the head of Manchester Education Authority.

Not surprisingly my mum was as proud as punch and contacted the M.E.N for a copy of the photo.  I doubt there would be any copyright problems with putting it on the website.  At least 2 of the other lads that were on the stand are subscribers to Friends Reunited.

Keep up the good work, & if I come across any more photo's, I'll let you have them.

Cheers

Dave Dawber
