The Italian Job 1960
("not a lot of people know that" *spoken in a michael caine accent*)
(photo taken outside new block , south side, before the school trip to Italy)
Perhaps the most impressive photo on the site so far, there must be almost 100 people
in this pic, imagine the stories many could tell about the events of the past 40yrs.
I wonder if all the pupils were from Brownley Green, some of the younger boys seem
to be wearing 'Grammar School Style' uniforms, many questions arise from this pic, can you provide any information ?
In reply to my question Sid Smith
has written in with this information;
I have just been looking at the article The Italian Job , and you ask if the younger
boys were from a different school because of their uniform ? Well Brownley Green School did have a uniform at that time, and
for many years prior to that trip.It consisted of a maroon blazer and cap (for the boys) and grey shorts. I remember them
well,because my mother used to blow her top when she got home from work, to find that I had been using my jacket to put out
the grass fires on my way home from school.They must have smelled terrible the next day, the joys of being a kid. That is
a great group photo, some of the faces look familiar but I cannot put names to them maybe someone out there can?

Taken opposite the cottages on Woodhouse Lane (i think), this is another
great pic , its a superb piece of social history, are you in this photo ?, please write in and let us know and include your
memories of that day.
Many Thanks to Caryl Crompton for providing photo's and info.
