Here are instructions that I got from a package of ribbon strips, cut up so that I could describe the steps. You can find a full copy here, and the front of the instructions here, I also have another diagram, on patterned paper, here.

If you find difficulty in steps 4 to 6, I have created a detailed diagram of the process of folding the strip around the pentagon shape. For more tips, see Page 2.

1. Loosely fold the strip in a knot at one end.

2. Pull on both ends of the strip so that the edges of the strip some together to form a pentagon. Flatten it.

3. Fold the shorter end against the pentagon.

4. Turn around. Fold the longer end along the pentagon so that the edges meet.

5. Turn. Fold again. Make sure you fold along the edge to retain the shape of the pentagon.

6. Continue doing so util you have folded the majority of the strip, and you are left with about one inch.

7. Take the end of the strip, and slide it under the "pocket" in the star, pulling it though.

8. Fold over, and tuck it in again.

9. Press in he center of the edges with either your fingertips or a sharp edge.

10. Finished product.
