I live in the small historic town of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, located on the west bank of the Mississippi River about 60 miles south of St. Louis.

Considered the oldest settlement west of the Mississippi River, Ste. Genevieve offers a close-up look at what life was like for the earliest European settlers in the Mississippi Valley.

Established between 1725 and 1750, Ste. Genevieve still retains many excellent examples of French Colonial vertical log homes.

There is a wealth of history to be found in Ste. Genevieve. This living time capsule showcases French and German architecture, Indian artifacts, and authentic colonial heirlooms.

Visitors to Ste. Genevieve can enjoy a stroll down the quaint city streets into the days of yesteryear while touring the historic homes and browsing the many craft, antique and specialty shops.
