Stephen
has been gone for two weeks now; it seems longer, but God has worked things out
for us here at home, and Stephen is loving being in with the Maniwo. He is
spending alot of time with them, so it's helping his language. The houses are
starting to go up, too, so that's pretty exciting. He made a hike over to
another family group of houses (the Maniwo spread out all over the area) that
was about 8 hours away. Steve said he's never been so exhausted. He said the
last two hours of the hike, his muscles were cramping up like crazy. They had a
great time with the people there; they remembered him from last year when he was
in that location. He over nighted there, and then hiked home the next day.
Our coworker Anderson and one of the Maniwo were with him as well.
The hike home was almost worse, because they didn't have enough time to
recuperate from the hike the day before. By the time they got back home, Stephen
had to crawl into the house, he wsa so exhausted. Can you imagine??
I'm glad he's ok, and he didn't get heat exhaustion or anything.
It is so nice being in touch with him via radio. The
girls and I are plugging away at school these days at home.
The first couple of weeks were pretty challenging, I thought, but it's
going much smoother now. A nice
opportunity for us to interact more than we normally would.
Stephen
and Anderson come out on September 5th, and my Dad and brother Tim will go back
in then to carry on. They decided it would be better to take turns being in
there so that there is always someone in there moving things along with the
house building and lumber cutting. There
is a group of national fellows doing that. Well,
I better run. Have a great week! Love,
Carolyn
