CHINCOTEAGUE 2001 CONSERVATION OUTING & FAMILY FISH CAMP:

AGENDA:

Friday night, July 13:  Travel to Tom's Cove Park, Chincoteague, VA, and set up camp
Saturday, July 14:   Enjoy and explore.  Options include YOUR CHOICE of:

  - fish/crab off the pier at Tom's Cove Park
  - fish/observe birds & wildlife/explore beach at Chincoteague National Seashore
  - fish/ dig clams in Chincoteague Bay (boat required)
 - fish for flounder, trout, shark in Chincoteague Bay (charter trip)
 - expedition boat for wildlife guided tour (Chincoteague National Seashore)
 - Cookout supper over open fire
 - Swim in in-ground pool
 - Bonfire and marshmallows and stories of the shore

Sunday, July 15:   Cook breakfast, break camp, explore, return home.  Also, if you want:

 - fish/crab off the pier at Tom's Cove Park
 - fish/observe birds & wildlife/explore beach at Chincoteague National Seashore
 - fish/clam in Chincoteague Bay (boat required)
 - Swim in the in-ground pool

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR:  Lodging/Campsite rental with Tom's Cove Park.  Boat rental with marina of your choice.  Personal camping and fishing gear.  Personal food and firewood.  Access fee to Chincoteague National Seashore.

- Mosquito spray.  Sting eaze. Waterproof Sunblock. Dramamine or Bonine (if prone to seasickness). First aid kit. A copy of your eyeglass prescription.
- Camping Gear.  Tents. Sleeping bags. Pillows Flashlights.. Batteries.  Gas lights and spare screens.
- Cooking Gear.  Camp grill.  Fire handling tools.  Fry pans.  Tongs.  Pot holders. Pots. Pans. Bowls and bowl covers/lids.  Spatula.  Knives.  Spoons. Towels. Dish rags. Big white bucket. Tin foil. Plastic bags.
- Coolers (for food, for fish)
- Food.  Drink. Marshmallers. Weenies. Deer burgers. Pancake mix. Eggs. Etc.
- Firewood.
- Rough clothes. Sun clothes. Sweatshirt. Long pants. Extra pair of sneakers. Hats. Sun glasses. Swim suit. Towels.
- Dish soap.  Body soap. Shampoo. Tooth paste.  Tooth brush.  Shavers are not allowed. Flip flops for the shower.
- Fishing tackle. Fish knives. Cutting board. Fish glove. Disinfectant.


CAMPSITE: Campsite with water & electricity rents for $28.00 per day, for 4 people and two tents.  Reservations may be made through the postal mail or in person. They do not accept phone or email reservations. A $30.00 deposit per campsite is required. Send a note with the following information: Name and Address, Phone Number, Type of Camping Equipment (tent, motorhome, trailer, etc.), Arrival and Departure dates and type of hookups requested. You will receive a conformation slip in the postal mail. A reservation guarantees a campsite with water and electricity and a picnic table only. Some sites may require extra water hose and\or extension cords and adaptors.  They do not accept credit cards for reservations or site payment (personal checks or cash only). NOTE:  Ask in your note for a site in close proximity to C21. Send your registration request to:

BOAT RENTALS:  Typically, boats are rented by the day, usually starting at 5:30 am or 6:00 pm, depending on the rental outfit.  You prefer at least a 15 hp motor. A boat that holds five people with a 15 hp motor  is about $75.00 per day, plus gas/oil, plus charge for any damage.  NOTE:  Most rental places accept cash only for the deposit, and cash (or credit card some places) for the rest.  Available rental places are listed below.
