Chapter 35

"Right this way." The waiter said and led Casey and Jane to their table. They both sat down and got their menus.

"Thank you." Jane said before the guy walked away leaving the two there in silence while they looked everything over.

"So Casey. Anything you want to talk about?" Jane hinted, in a not so subtle attempt to get her to talk.

Casey sighed, "I don't know."

"Well, about what you were saying earlier about you wanting to change, what did you mean by that?"

"Exactly what I said. I'm tired of the way my life is going. I piss my teacher's off, I piss my mom off, I piss you guys off and now I'm pissing Nick off. I'm tired of pissing everyone off."

"Well, what do you want to do about it?"

"I want to stop. Stop drinking, stop smoking, stop getting high, stop sleeping around. I want to stop it all."

"How do you suppose you want to do that?"

"Well, I've been chewing the gum." She laughed a little. "My mom gave it to me as a Christmas present when I was 15." Jane laughed and shook her head.

"I should have known that Julie would do that. Your mom is such a weirdo."

Casey giggled and nodded her head. "So when exactly did you start all of this?"

"The rebelling and the drugs?" Jane nodded her head and Casey took a moment to think it over. "Hmm, I think it was when I was 12 or 13. About a year after Nick left I know that. I was so depressed over him leaving that I did anything to keep it out of my head." Jane whistled.

"Thirteen years old? Wow, that was young." Casey nodded her head and the two sat in silence. The waitress came over with their orders and placed them on the table leaving the two of them to sit and eat in silence.

"I want to go home." Casey said out of no where. Jane looked up at her surprised.

"What are you talking about?"

"I want to go home. Things between Nick and me are just too weird. My mom said that if I've changed I could go home and I really do want to change. I just don't think that Florida is right for me, you know? Don't get me wrong, I totally appreciate what you guys have all done for me but I just don't think that things between Nick and me should get any weirder."

The two sat in silence again, thinking things over.

"Well, if that's what you want, we'll see about it." Jane answered and Casey smiled up at her gratefully.
