My grandpa was a great man. He used to make me laugh as a child growing up. He always would tell us stories and give us money every time we would see his face. He could be mean at times, but I guess that's how all grandparents are.
Johnny J. Richard Johnson Morrell,son of the late Marie and Abel Morrell, was born on December 31, 1922, in South Bend, Indiana. He departed this life on June 15, 1998, at 9:31 a.m. at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
He confessed hope in Christ at an early age and upon moving to Fort Wayne he joined the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev.P.H.Love. He was a member of the Senior Usher Board.He was an Army veteran and served in World WarII. He retired from Wolf Mattress Manufacturing after 22 years of service. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Callie Washington Myatt(my grandma) on June 22, 1970. He ws much loved by family and friends. He devoted his life to caring for his grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife; one daughter, Caretha Smith of California; two brothers, Charles and Frank Morrell of South Bend, Indiana; tow step daughters, Christine Myatt of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Beverly Fuqua of Fort Wayne; tow stepsons, Luther Myatt, Jr. and John Myatt, seventeen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one niece, Linda Rogers of Fort Wayne ; several other nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
