makes public address on Romulan 'Internal Crisis'

The Senate Chambers of the French Republic has recently been retrofitted
to serve as the new venue for the Federation Council at the Palais de la Concorde
Federation News Service, SD 61256.4 (April 3rd 2384)
PARIS,
EARTH SOL- President Bacco during an emergency session at the Federation Council Chambers in the Palais de la Concorde, in
an address to the nation announced that, in light of the recommendation of the Federation Security Council, that she has mandated
the hightened defense condition of all Starfleet Forces near the Romulan Neutral Zone. This was made in response to the deteriating
situation within the Romulan Star Empire and the Succession state of the Imperial Romulan State.
Sources within Starfleet Command have revealed that forces from both factions
are vying over control of Rho Shaka, a border world to the Federation that had declared it's intention to join the Imperial
Romulan State. Rho Shaka is considered a strategically vital waypoint between Romulan and Federation Space, and is a considerable
resource contributor to the Romulan Empire.
Defence Critics believe that such buildup can very easily break out into a
shooting war between both Empire and Imperial fleets. President Bacco in response said "That as Commander in Chief of the
Federation Starfleet Forces, I have ordered the 107th Battle Group jointed from ships of the First and Ninth Fleets to move
into Romulan Space outside of Rho Shaka to act as buffer between these two massive war machines and to safeguard and prevent
any fighting from spilling into our borders" Bacco then made clear that she had contacted Praetor Tal'Aura and unofficially
Empress Donatra with their approval in hopes of brokering a moment a pause over Rho Shaka.
After her address to the Federation Council, a confidence vote for the measure
was put forward by United Earth's Matthew Mazibuko and seconded by the Republic of Bajor's Krim Aldos. The Confidence Motion
into the Operation passed with a tally of 105-41, the minority opposition led by Bera chim Gleer of Tellar who was voiced
opposition in "getting stuck in the mud with Romulan squabbles".
According to Military Sources, the "Peacekeeping
Buffer" Battle Group will be led by Rear Admiral William Amherst of the USS Thomas Vanderbilt. A few ships known
to be within the battle group include the USS Discovery, USS Fearless, and the USS Yamato to name a few ships.
Change of Command
Ceremony aboard the USS Discovery
Nebula Class
Starship placed under the command of Starfleet Service Veteran

SHANGHAI,
EARTH SOL- Starfleet officials and media were on hand for a change of command ceremony for the USS Discovery. The Discovery
having served the fleet during the Federation Expansionist Period of the 2360s and taking on an active combat role during
the Dominion War in the early 2370s, under the command of five other previous skippers will not be under the watchful eye
of Lt. CMDR Ishin Nakamura, DWSM, SSD. Nakamura, a veteran of Starfleet for over twenty years started his service as an enlisted
crewman, eventually excelling to the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Nakamura is a recent graduate from the Officer
Candidate School for transferee enlisted personnel
and given his recent successful assignment as an executive officer for the USS Thomas Vanderbilt he was granted full rights
over the command of the Discovery.
The Discovery itself sits on harbor for minor refits and crew replacements in anticipation
for its deployment along the Romulan Border in light of recent escalations between the Romulan Star Empire led by Praetor
Tal’Aura and the succession state of the ‘Imperial Romulan State’ led by self named Empress Donatra. News
from the Romulan borders have naturally been sparse and with the growing instability within the region there remains an active
possibility of the deployment of a Federation Observer Group along the Romulan Neutral Zone. When asked of the current situation
Nakamura was quoted as saying “As of the moment I have no comment of the state affairs of the Romulan government, right
now my concern is selecting my senior staff and executive officer for the Discovery”. No comment from the President
Bacco, the Palais de la Concorde in Paris or the State Secretary in London
has been released on the recent escalations.
