When the camera panned the faces of the fans, I thought they were going to cry when Rocker struck out their boy & pitched a scoreless 8th. The only way it could've been better would've been if it had been the 9th.

(Am I getting a little strident?):-)

Nope...none...hehe.. :)

I dislike baseball entirely, actually. I'm a hockey fan... and I'm American.

I'm just sick of people attacking Rocker (and Dr. Laura for that matter) without even trying to exercise their partially functional brains.

Hockey's cool.... my Devils won!!!! But since we're on the topic of baseball, we all know the Yankees will come back and win the World Series again. Its just destiny, the Yankees will beat the damn Canadiens and the both the Sox of course.

Nah Diablo, that wasn't really at you. It wasn't meant to be so personal on your post either Flash.. (although your post typified the type of argument I hate: senseless :)

The reason I dislike baseball btw is the strike in '94. Players union was holding out for higher salary caps or something? I was a tender young 12 year old at the time.. And the money grubbing was a huge turnoff. I took up hockey at that point. ;)

I hope all of you know that the Bosox will not win it this year, mainly because they were on the cover of Sports Illustrated's baseball preview issue.

However from the looks of it Yanks aren't going to win it either. Too many starters hurt or too old.

They've won enough tiles as it is. They beat ATL 4-0 (Me being from ATL)

I'm going for the ChiSox.

Well I`m from NYC. The Bronx to be exact. Most of the city is not a dump. I`ll be happy to show any of you million dollar homes in the "non downtown" areas some of you think are a dump. I`ll also show you dozens of middle and upper middle class neighborhoods that most of you will never be able to afford to live in if you wanted. We are the safest large city in America. Every now and then something bad happens and it gets blown up all over every news channel in America. We have 8 million people here. That`s more than entire sections of the country. Millions of people ride our subways every day and nothing happens to them.

Yes we do have some areas that you might not feel comfortable in since they are basically all minority. Some are not the safest places to be and should be avoided. Others are probably safer than where you live. And it should be noted that we don`t have "white trash" in NYC. I`ve been around most of this country and many places cannot say the same thing.

Personally I think Rocker had every right to say what he did since last time I checked this still is America. I`ve seen some of the things he said and other things he said I have never seen. He probably should have just kept his mouth shut since this is now P.C. America.

Go Yankees!!!! Screw the Mets!!!!

I never challenged Rocker's legal right to say these things. Of course he can express his beliefs, just as the whole nation has expressed thier disguest with his comments.

But Rocker has to be the stupidest SOB ever to say those things in public, and to continue talking and not know when to keep his mouth shot. Not only has it ruined his reputation but it has also interfered with his pitching ability. I think if he had to do it all over again he would never have said any of this. Rocker is a role model for kids and should never say something like that, but agian he's an idiot so what can we expect.

And I do believe that anybody who defends him and agrees with his statements is a sick and prejudiced human being.

And the Mets are getting thier *sses kicked again. Good thing I'm a Yankee fan and Clemens is pitching a fine game, GO YANKS!!!

I don't agree with his statements. In that distinction, you are correct.

Rocker didn't say that in public though.. I believe it was in private in a taxi cab? Correct? That's the first point.

My other peeve is that people are trying to CENSOR him, not just disagree with him. The Braves demoted him because of "poor pitching". Yeah, right. He was struggling, but I don't fully buy that. They also forced him through "sensativity training"? What kind of BS is that? They're trying to reprogram him?

Hey SpicyBeef, you said:

1. His comments were in a CAR made in PRIVATE (foolishly) to a reporter. The reporter then blew them across the nation--stabbing him in the back really. "

NO KIDDING. IT WAS AN INTERVIEW!!! That's the friggen point to tell people about it!! Don't give me that stabbing in the back nonsense, that's the reporter's JOB.

Spicybeef, your arguement is rather scuttled by the whole fact that the discussion was an interview with a reporter for SI. normally in interviews what you say is printed. so you're basically whining about nothing.

Rocker has the right to say what he wants, just as we have the right to be total asses in return.

It WAS an actual interview? Well, that changes that part of my point..yes. I never said he was a bright one to be telling a reporter that...hehe..

I seriously doubt he intended for it to be published though. Perhaps, technically, that is the reporter's perrogative.

That changes nothing on my other points though. Yeah grelk, you can be an @$$ if you'd like.. :) But no one has the right to attempt to hound and persecute him for what he says.

Spicy: It was in Rocker's SUV, and that's a good point, since the only thing that Rocker said that would otherwise merit an apology was his comment that Asian women can't drive, and that's mitigated by the fact that it was inspired by a woman (who Rocker mistook for an Asian woman) who had just cut him off.

Further, the Braves demoted Rocker for his poor pitching. I saw him pitch 2 days before he was sent down, and it was justified.

What ticks me off is Selig suspending him, requiring him to undergo a psychiatric evaluation(!), and so many people falling into line condemning him, afraid rhat their peers will like them less if they don't hate what they're supposed to hate.

Hey, Rocker is obviously a nutjob even without the interview. He was flipping off and yelling obsenities at the fans months before the interview hit the streets. He even protended to throw a ball to some kids in the stand and then promptly threw the ball back in the dugout like a jackass.

In addition, in the tunnels he met the SI reporter who did the interview. He threatened the reporter with violence. This guy is a couple jets short of a landgrab here. I for one would be glad to see him kicked out of baseball for being an idiot. Maybe he can play in the Klan Leagues.

By the way, for you NYers. I'll be back in NY in the winter (I'm stuck in Virginia currently) and will be finishing up college at Hofstra out on the Island. I went to SUNY Nassau last year.
