Permits are required for “Urban Camping”. That is Tempe double talk for “Homeless people are Not Welcome”.
The “Urban Camping” laws in Tempe are used to single out homeless and poor people out so the city of Tempe can arrest them and send them out of town. For example sitting down on a park bench and eating food is a violation of the “Urban Camping Act”. Of course a family having a picnic at the park would not be arrested for eating food on a park bench, but a homeless people are. Going to sleep and taking a nap in the park is a violation of the “Urban Camping Act”. Again a family having a picnic at the park would not be arrested if mommy, daddy or one of the children went to sleep because they were tired. But a homeless person, poor person or undesirable person who takes a snooze just about anywhere in Tempe will be arrested for violation the “Urban Camping Act”. |
