As
Soaps In Depth's current cover story
about ONE LIFE TO LIVE's Al and Marcie says, "His death is not the end of
the story." In fact, it's just the beginning — Nathaniel Marston will be
staying with the show. "The fans have spoken, and I hear them," says
ABC Daytime president Brian Frons. "We have been able to turn the story
around and keep Al, and the talented Nathaniel Marston, in a very emotionally
compelling love story with Marcie.

SAVE OUR VOICE
refers to not only
Nathaniel Marston/Al/Voice of the Night but also to our voice as fans. Fans have
been clamoring for the Marcal story to take off and now just as it does, we are
met with the devastating blow of having what promised to be a great love story
cut short.
What this
campaign involves:
Write,
email, and/or call the ABC/OLTL execs every day MARCAL is on screen
(Comment line: 212-456-3338) and emphasize
how much we love and enjoy Marcie and Al. This should be especially true on
days there is something we particularly like (upcoming love scene) or hate
(hazing). Please keep your messages as
positive as possible. Focus on the how much this couple is loved and how
much we want this story to continue. The MARCALS and MARCAL Lovers have always
been an upbeat, positive, and warm fan base and even as we wage this campaign it
is important not to lose sight of that fact. There are printable
postcards/stationary posted below if you would like to use them.

Write,
email, and/or call the ABC execs and voice your displeasure about the reported
direction of the MARCAL storyline: Al’s death and the possible pairing
of Marcie with Joey.
Once again keep your messages as positive as possible. Keep the focus on
how much we love Al and Marcie and want the MARCAL love story to continue.
Write
the soap mags and voice your support of Al Holden and MARCAL and
displeasure over OLTL’s release of Nathaniel Marston and the reported
demise of the character Al Holden.
Please focus on how much Nathaniel Marston and Kathy Brier are loved and
respected as an actors and on how important Al Holden is to the landscape of
OLTL as well as on how much we want MARCAL to continue.
If
you know any columnist who would help get the word out, either send
notice of this campaign to them, or let me know about them, and I’ll send
them information.
If
you frequent OLTL boards, announce the campaign briefly and refer
anyone interested to The Diner of Love or The Corner Booth for
more information.
Follow
the lead of Voice of the Streets, Vegetarian1, and talk to people you
encounter in your day-to-day life and encourage them to join the
campaign by writing and calling ABC and the soap mags in support of
Nathaniel Marston, Al Holden, and MARCAL.
Participate in any or
all of the following Send In campaigns:
Send Marcal Facial Tissue to
OLTL with the tag line: We are crying our eyes out for Nathaniel and MARCAL!
Send roasted nuts to OLTL with the tag
line: We are nuts for Nathaniel.
Send tubes of Krazy Glue with
the tag line: We are Krazy about Kathy! Please use this glue to fix the
mistake of releasing Nathaniel and tearing apart MARCAL!
