About Me

Shonda Rhimes, Executive Producer and Creator of Grey's Anatomy, stated that Grey's Anatomy is "a relationship show with a few surgeries thrown in for fun."  I love that quote and must admit that the emphasis on the relationship between the characters really fits my sensibilities. This is one of the reasons why, even though I'm not a medical show or surgery TV junkie (e.g., I've never been able to get into E.R.), I really enjoy this show. Of course, as is true with any TV show, I tend to view this one through my personal lenses and expectations and this perspective is reflected in the tenor of this site. For example, despite the show's name and the voice-overs from Meredith Grey, I see Grey's Anatomy as a true ensemble show. I  like all of the characters and find them interesting. I'm curious and excited about the prospect of finding out more about them and look forward to watching their trials and tribulations and their fair share of the messy glory of life spill out onscreen.

Although I like both Derek and Meredith, my main interest in the show is definitely not whether Meredith& "McDreamy" will get together again. In fact, I happen to like Addison--a lot and at the moment I find myself rooting for the Shepherds to save their marriage. Will that happen? I have no idea. Should Derek be with Meredith instead? Maybe. And as long as I don't have to sit through a tedious triangle played out for months with no real payoff, I am looking forward to watching the story develop onscreen. And more importantly, I want to see where Burke & Cristina go in their relationship; I am giddy about Bailey's baby; I want to watch Addison set the world on fire and if she and Derek are not to be then I want to see her find love again; I want to know what's going on with Webber and Adele; I want to see if George and Izzie ever realize what is so obvious to me: they belong together; and I want to see if Alex ever realizes that needing and caring about someone isn't a weakness. Those questions and a thousand others have me sitting on the edge of my seat each week.  In my TV viewing experience, I've found that it's a gift to find a show that centers on complex, multi-layered characters you like, find interesting and want to know more about. I plan to enjoy every minute of the experience. ~~Tessarae87 12/4/05
