Softball Game Recap I
Greenlee duPres
6/5/04

I had been keeping my fingers crossed about going to the game for like... well since I first found out the date. Ask anyone, I can't read a map to save my life. And knowing me and public transportation.... I would have never gotten there. So, I went with my dad. God I love my dad, he's the greatest. Doesn't even watch the soaps, but sat with me through the whole game. Not to mention, giving me a lesson in map reading 101.

We had really great seats, I was sitting, right at home plate so I got some really nice pics. I have to say, Eddie Alderson was the cutest. He was giving his sister all this tips while she was up at bat, it made me say 'Aww'. And Kamar's little son even got up to bat twice. I can't even begin to describe how adorable that was. He would hit it sooo foul and they let him run it. He was so cute.

Dan Gauthier

OK so now that I've gone on about how cute the little guys were.... Trevor St. John was under the weather, but made it out. And talk about funny, Dan Gauthier. Climbing the fence in backfield, 'charging the mound'... it was endless. A few hits went over the back fence.... making casualties out of a few cars.

Nathaniel Marston

Nathaniel was a sweetheart, sitting right out there front and center watching. Even calling out to all those gushing.

OK, now Kathy. She wasn't there, but check this out for a raffle. While she was over at Hairspray, she got the whole cast to autograph a show poster and she donated it for the raffle. I was all excited for like ten second when my first four numbers matched, but you know... that fifth number always gets me.

Overall awesome game. went the full 7 innings, with CBS coming out on top, 12 to 11. I got some great pics which I'll scan through for you guys once my scanner stops doing crazy things. I got most of the OLTLrs, some AMC.

Softball Game Recap II

6/6/04

Nathaniel Marston

I got there as they were finishing up announcing the ABC lineup & was ecstatic to see that Nathaniel showed up on crutches with a cast that came just below his right knee & was covered with bandaging & then later with a bag when it started drizzling- he sat on the sidelines as the team captain or manager (he was diligently writing out stuff- the lineup most likely & shouted encouraging stuff during the game).

Bree Williamson & John-Paul Lavoisier

Players from OLTL - Kamar de los Reyes (Tonio) with his 5-6 yr old son who pinch hit for his daddy twice- the kid's gorgeous, Kristen & Eddie Alderson (Starr & Matthew), Dan Gauthier (whose son Cole was also with him- he didn't play, but spent a lot of time talking to our boy on the sidelines), John-Paul Lavoisier (Sexy Rexy) brought his brother also played, Bree Williamson (Jessica) gave our boy a mid game back rub (everyone was doting on him the whole game as they should), Trevor St John (Todd) who was a bit under the weather but played anyway (I made sure to thank him for spreading the Yankee hate after the game- he chuckled & said he was happy to keep it up), Jay Wilkison (Riley), Alan Needleman (AKA Needles, the show's stage manager) & Rich Fillipi (a frequent LU extra).

Patricia Mauceri

Patricia Mauceri (Carlotta) showed up a little late & did not play.

Eden Riegel

Eden Riegel & Justin Bruening

Eden Riegel (Bianca) & Elizabeth Hendrickson (Maggie) & some guy named Justin Bruening (Jamie) from AMC also played on the ABC team. As for the CBS team, I couldn't really tell you who was there, except for the guy who used to play Nik on GH & Nathaniel's friend Chris Beetem from ATWT (who drove our boy home).

CBS won the game in the bottom of the 7th inning 12-11. No one should consider giving up their day job for a career in the big leagues - LOL, but it was definitely all in good fun. All the little kids got on base each & every time they got up to bat. At one point, KDLR's son was standing on the wrong side of the batter's box so his daddy picked him up and put him on the right side- it was very very cute.

Eden Riegel & John-Paul Lavoisier

It was sort of drizzly & the event people were going to end the game an inning or two early, but JPL riled up the crowd & they played the full 7 innings. Speaking of JPL, with the exception of the time I saw him in a play in the Fall- this was the first time I ever saw him out in public in anything but pajama pants- he was wearing shorts, playing first base with the occasional cigarette in his hand. Gotta love him- I know I do.

A few balls went over the fences & dinged a few cars on E17th street- no broken windows though - I was very glad I decided not to park on that block.

They raffled off stuff during breaks in the game- Kathy, who wasn't there, had sent a signed Hairspray window card, there were a few scripts & the like. A few Studio tours were also auctioned off after the game.

After the game, we were allowed on the field to take photos & get autographs- Of, course, our boy was swarmed by the fans (more than anyone else that I noticed, but I just might be a little biased- nah I'm not- he was the most swarmed) & had questions coming at him from every direction- it was a bit chaotic & disorganized. He did say he has worked a bit since his accident, but he would be going in for surgery on his foot on Thursday of this week (6/10) & was expecting to go back to work by the following Thursday (6/17).

He was asked why Kathy wasn’t there- he said she was busy today (Sat). He was asked if he knew what his next s/l was- he said no- he never asks because he preferred not knowing so he could have a fresh approach to the material. Someone remarked that the show needed to heat up the love story between Marcie & Michael - he said , yeah , a little more heat would be good. I said nope- a LOT more would be better- none of this every two - three months stuff - he laughed- he was in very very good spirits- his attitude seems to be viewing this as a temporary setback and trying not to let it get him too down (great attitude to have IMO).

Keep sending him all the love balms- you can tell how much he appreciates ALL the support he gets from everyone. He posed for a gazillion pictures, signed a ton of autographs all on his feet the entire time- at one point, one fan wanted to get a picture of her daughter with him (kid was 3-4 years old - tops). God bless him, he said hand her to me & held the little girl in his arms (with a back injury no less)- it was so cute b/c the little girl spontaneously leaned over & kissed his left cheek. Unfortunately, I was not in a good vantage point to get a shot of this- sorry.

He's just great with people of all ages- he really is. He said he would not be going to the bartending event that night. I did get to take a picture with him & of him - thankfully no Yankee cap on his head, otherwise, there would be a permanent record of his hat head- LOL- there will be no Yankee caps in any picture I'm in or taking (Go Trevor!). He had to leave after an hour or so of this because his ride home (i.e., Chris Beetem of ATWT) was ready to leave- otherwise- I swear he'd still be there- he is so gracious to all of his fans. Of course, I stopped to make a phone call at the gate & much like a soap character, I can't walk & talk on a cell phone at the same time, so when I finally headed back to my car, parked a few blocks away- I spotted Nathaniel, Chris & a young woman walking to the same street as me- Chris (who showed up a little late) parked his SUV a few spots in front of me. I laid back a little- didn't want the poor guy to feel like he was being stalked, even if I did get there before Chris did- LOL!
