The carnosaurids were jurassic-early cretaceous theropods. They ranged from 5-6 to 16-15 metres,
exceeding the 12 metres of Tyrannosaurus rex
Sinraptorids were basicly asiatic Carnosaurs, between 6-9 metres of lenght.
Yangchuanosaurus had a mini-version of the Dilophosaurus crests.
Allosaurus was probably the best adaptable of this group, as it's known from North-America
,
Europe (Portugal), Australia and Africa (Tanzania). It lived in the late Jurassic and ranged from
5 to 12 metres of lenght. Based on footprints it is known that Allosaurus probably hunted
in organized packs, such as wolfes and wild-dogs do today.
Carcharodontosaurinae has presented the largest predatory dinosaurs ever known.
Carcharodontosaurus from Africa (mostly Sahara region) could reach lenghts to upto 15 metres,
while Giganotosaurus stopped at "only" 14.5 metres. Their body structure seems to have been
more agile than the body structure of tyrannosaurids, resembling
a kind of overgrown bulky coelurosaurid.
Cryolophosaurus was found deep under the ice, in the Antarctica rocks. It had a spoon shaped
Elvis-kind of crest on the skull, and it was found with a prosauropod bone fragment stuck in the throat.
An indication that he died by gluttony.
Monolophosaurus had a more elongated and slender skull than Cryolophosaurus and sported a
horizontal crest, allmost like Dilophosaurus sinensis, but with more cavities.
