Background/History:
Three belts or girdles of power were created by the gods of Olympus to reward
the faithful. Two of the three were lost, although one is rumored to be in
China. The third one, the Girdle of the Titans, remained in Italy. For many
years they sought someone who could wield it’s power, but after uttering the
phrase, "By Zeus, grant me the power!", a lightning bolt would flash
from the heavens leaving only a charred corpse. Having given up on the girdle
being useful to them, they gave it to the Nazis, knowing of Hitler’s
fascination with the occult. The Nazis tried it as well and had the same
results, until Manfred. He had been a German decathlon Olympic athlete, but he
was aging past his prime. Not willing to lose his status, he volunteered for the
Girdle to stay in the limelight and felt he had nothing to lose. He put on the
girdle, said the magic words, and this time, it worked, apparently due to
Manfred’s total dedication to the Nazi ideal. He became a more powerful,
idealized version of himself, going from an Olympic level athlete to a
superhuman. He spent time as a propaganda tool being the image of the ultimate
Aryan male. He ended up under the control of the Military and was placed in the
Super SS. Eventually, he faced All American and was knocked out. All American
took the girdle from him, put it on, and gained the power as well. He made short
work of the Olympian’s allies and took the girdle back to the US for study.
Manfred ended the war as a simple prisoner of war and ended his life in
anonymity. The girdle’s whereabouts today are unknown.
Personality/Motivations:
He was the epitome of the Nazi ideal, both mentally and physically. His pride
demanded that he find a very high profile way of defending and protecting his
Motherland.
