Background/History:
In the late 1800’s in a far off galaxy, a benevolent race of aliens extracted
specimens of all the animal life from a planet whose sun went supernova. Their
spaceship operated on light wave transmissions and, when they entered our solar
system, a solar flare disrupted their propulsion causing the ship to crash land
on the Earth. Most of the crew and the specimens died in the crash. The Captain
surveyed the area around the crash site and stumbled across a hunting party. He
startled them with his alien appearance and they shot him. He made his way back
to the ship and put the survivors in a state of suspended animation to await an
eventually rescue. Over 100 years later, farmer Jerry Allen was clearing land to
expand his family’s crops in the hope of better days to come. He stumbled over
the spaceship, saw a hand print sized depression, pressed his hand into it, and
the ship’s door opened. Wandering around inside, he came to a door with the
same kind of hand print plate as the one on the outside, and he pressed it. The
door hissed open and he saw a reddish colored, transparent oval shape which
approached him. Before Jerry could react, the shape enveloped him, surrounding
him head to toe like a full body halo. Yamne telepathically explained that he
meant no harm, that his race has to attach itself to another physical being to
be in a solid form. After his initial shock, Jerry’s curiosity took over and
he explored the ship with commentary by Yamne. When they reached the control
room, Jerry saw a control console with another hand print device. When he pushed
this one, the ship powered up and the crewmembers came out of their long sleep.
The Captain’s wounds had healed and the ship had automatically repaired itself
during their hibernation. He thanked Jerry for waking them and prepared to
finish their long delayed journey. He offered to let Jerry keep Yamne as thanks
and Jerry accepted. As time passed he found that Yamne’s form gave him great
strength that he used to make the farm profitable again. Once the farm was taken
care of, he decided to go to New York and see if his powers could be useful, so
he took the codename Extension since Yamne acted like an extension of Jerry’s
body. He joined the Protectors and was instrumental in the first major defeat of
the Anachronist Society by helping cause the separation of Crykill from Aaron
Cromwright. When Cromwright joined the team as Arcanum, Extension felt freed to
travel again and transferred to the Freedom Brigade. He is currently engaged to
the team’s receptionist proving he made the right decision in moving.
Personality/Motivation:
Raised with a mid-western Bible belt background and a sense of humor, he
responds to super-villains and big city attitudes with a slightly wry, light
hearted sarcasm. He lightens the load of responsibility with jokes.
