Silver Streak
Alter Ego:
Jason Alan Chambers
Occupation: Super Hero
Known Relatives: Jonathan and Elizabeth Chambers- parents
Group Affiliation: Freedom Brigade
Base of Operations: Los Angeles, CA

Background/History:
Jason’s parents were wealthy enough to give him anything he wanted and to set him up for the future he desired. He was a normal boy growing up, but for one thing. He was quick, both physically and mentally. He seemed to process information more quickly than his peers did. He learned to walk early, never fell, never dropped anything, and his eye hand coordination was remarkable. As he grew, his speed at running increased and his reflexes continued to improve. His parents went from pride to concern. He was eclipsing his peers and hitting world record sprints in his teens with no special training. There were numerous instances of people born with extraordinary abilities and they began to believe Jace was a mutant. They were not prejudiced or afraid of him, but there were cases of people who hated mutants or exploited them. So, they contacted Dr. Whyte, the nation’s expert, to have Jace tested. He was indeed a mutant and the doctor felt his powers would continue to grow as he reached maturity. He could find no risk factors or signs that the speed powers would have any ill effects, so he sent him home with only two suggestions. First, practice carefully and master his abilities and secondly, keep them secret to avoid complications so that he could have a normal life. The doctor wanted him to return after high school graduation for a check-up. He did those things and discovered with his parents just how fast he could be. He wanted to be a superhero. It seemed the only logical use of his powers, so his parents did their best to research how to be one. He trained to be a private investigator to gain useful skills. He went to see Dr. Whyte after he graduated. The doctor was impressed with his progress and offered him leadership of his Mutant Force team, since Mammoth had refused to do it and left him. There was something wrong about the doctor, a subtle change in attitude from his earlier meeting. Jace did not feel that he could trust him and the last thing he remembered was a voice in his head saying "What a pity...". His next memory was getting to his feet in front of the Protectors after having been hit harder than he could have imagined possible. His neck itched, he reached around to scratch it, and a small circuit board type device came off in his hand. The rest of Mutant Force was being teleported away by Popper, but he dodged her and stayed at the scene of the battle. The Protectors moved to take him into custody and he handed the device to Esper who quickly figured out what had happened. The Doctor had used this device to mind control Jason into believing he was "Silver Streak", a member of his now villainous Mutant Force. Cleared of any wrong doing, he decided to keep his codename and stayed with the Protectors for a short time, eventually going to the Freedom Brigade and earning the team leader position.

Personality/Motivation:
His parents raised him in a happy home to be a responsible man. They succeeded. The added responsibility of his powers made him more determined to be a source of pride for his parents and to be able to make a difference in the world. The only thing to shake his even temper is his hatred of the mind control tactic used against him so long ago. He never wants to be used like that again.
