Background/History:
The origin of Ghost is different from that of most mutants. James Williamson
already had a wife and a growing security business when he discovered his mutant
powers. While working on a new vault that seemed unbreakable, James simply
walked through the door while it was closed. He revealed this only to his wife,
Anne, who agreed that this ability should be kept secret. As he continued to
study this new ability, he also found that his strength was increasing as well.
For no good reason, he found he could actually lift the heavy steel alloys he
worked with and with very little effort. He had no explanation until he read an
article in Popular Science regarding the recent outbreak of metahuman mutants.
Though his powers manifested late in life, this was the only reasonable
explanation for what was happening to him. One day while working on a new
security system for the government, Anne Williamson was kidnapped by a
competitor who needed the computer codes for the system in order to sell them to
a foreign power. This would have the dual result of rendering the system useless
and throwing the contract back into the bidding phase due to lack of security on
the part of WillSec. Williamson then donned the now familiar Ghost costume and
invaded the offices of SecurCom. Though one of the most secure building in the
world, they were not ready for the power of the Intangible Avenger. Upon finding
Anne, James discovered that his wife had already dispatched her guard and was
working on her own escape. After securing certain sensitive documents, they blew
the whole case wide open and SecurCome was ruined. Soon after hearing of the
formation of the Protectors, Ghost sought to join the fledgling group. The
partnership has been fruitful ever since.
Personality/Motivation:
Calm and even tempered, Ghost never really planned on being a hands on superhero
type. After a few years, he decided that he would rather be a reserve member and
Sound Wave offered him the position of lead instructor at the Protectors
Academy. He and his wife have continued there ever since.
