Background/History:
As a small child, young Helene Hunter was playing in the woods when a ghostly woman dressed in white appeared to her. The apparition led her to an abandoned house. She followed the strange specter to the basement and it disappeared. She waited and waited, but the wraith did not return and nothing happened at all. Her young mind swam lost in a sea of unanswerable questions. Her parents thought it to be a figment of her youthful imagination, but Helene knew it had been real. A couple of years passed and an old friend of her father, Bill Drackett, moved back to town with his daughter, Kayla, who was about the same age as Helene. Kayla seemed oddly familiar looking to her, but she could not figure out why. He claimed that her mother had left them and that was why they were back. The girls became fast friends and grew up as close as sisters. After Kayla’s 16th birthday party, she disappeared. No one, including her father or Helene, had any clue to her whereabouts. While everyone searched for her, Helene was at home too upset to search, but acting as a coordinator for the search parties. As darkness fell that night and the search was called off, she saw the woman in white beckoning her. When she went outside to get a closer look, it vanished, but she had a clearer view of the spectral form’s face. She looked remarkably like Kayla, perhaps a few years older. She remembered the first time she saw the ghost and the abandoned house in the woods. Suddenly, she was siezed by the thought that was where Kayla was and why she had the vision years before. She ran to the house and once she reached it, she saw candle light. It was clearly abandoned no longer. She looked through a window and saw Kayla tied up and gagged. She slipped in quietly, a masked man was pulling knives and pliers and such out of a blood stained tool box. The only thing handy to use as a weapon was a cat o’ nine tails whip that he had dropped on the floor. Using all her strength, she hit him in the head with it’s handle and knocked him out cold. She removed the mask to find Kayla’s father, Bill Drakett. He had tortured and murdered his wife years before and seeing his daughter grow to resemble her had driven him to attempt to repeat his horrible crime. She had saved her friend thanks to the intervention of the woman in white even if she didn’t understand exactly who she was, if she was Kayla’s mother’s ghost, or how she had known years before to show her that abandoned house. From that day forward, she dedicated her life to answering those kinds of questions and investigating mystical phenomenon. As she learned, she discovered the Black Arts and those who would utilize those powers for evil. She dedicated her life to defending the innocent from those mystical threats lurking in the dead of night as the Dead Knight. She started a career that led her to meet Crimson Death, join the Covenant, and team up with All American.

Personality/Motivation:

Basically the girl next door, she became totally obsessed with magic and unexplained phenomena and spent all her time researching and studying it. Her good deeds were almost secondary to her search for knowledge.
