Group Affiliation: Circle of Justice
Base of Operations: New York, NY, later Atlanta, GA
Background/History:
Born and raised in Chicago, the twins were both accepted at UCLA and took off on
the road together by car. The Star and Stripe Program, the US Government’s
attempt to create super-soldiers, had been declared a failure and an armored
truck carrying various experimental chemicals and such was headed out west for
disposal. The evil organization known as Ravenshadow found out about the truck
and set out to hijack it. The twins stopped at a diner in Phoenix and the
Ravenshadow agents had picked that very spot as the place to trap the armored
car. The attack went poorly, the gunfire triggered an explosion that killed
everyone involved with the truck, and bathed the diner with a smoke and chemical
bath composed of the truck’s contents. When the Justice Avengers arrived, the
seven survivors in the diner were comatose and shrouded in a cocoon-like
substance. They took the cocoons to the military base hospital that was the home
of the Star and Stripe Program, where Dr. Koloff was. After twenty-four hours,
they awoke and came out of their cocoons transformed with superpowers due to the
freak accidental exposure to the mixed chemical compounds. Dr. Koloff
immediately began working with and studying them with the Justice Avengers
around just in case. Star took issue with the testing methods of the doctor who
was essentially torturing his test subjects. The government was fairly pleased
with the accident creating a new group of heroes, but as the testing continued,
four of the seven died due to natural causes. Jane, who had gained fire
abilities, was the only one who kept her powers. Her brother and the remaining
survivor both returned to normal. The unfortunate deaths were the final straw
for the Program and Dr. Koloff fled back to his home country of Russia to
continue his research there. Jane who had no aspirations to be a superheroine
declined an offer to join the Justice Avengers and, after they both receiving a
clean bill of health, she and Rick went on to UCLA as originally planned. She
graduated with a business degree and got a job in New York City. One day, her
office building became a battleground for the Circle of Justice and the Death
Squad. Seeing the Circle members try to help the victims made her think how she
was wasting her abilities and she pitched in to help in the rescue operations.
She took the codename ‘Inferno’ and joined the Circle of Justice.
Personality/Motivations:
Just a typical young adult heading to college, she had no idea of being anything
other than a normal businesswoman. Her whole life and outlook changed when she
realized that she could not waste her gift by not using it, just to have a
normal life.
