Keeper of Infinite Earths - Justice Avengers
Created by Matt Parmenter
Canuck
Alter Ego: Byron Waylon
Occupation: Super Hero
Known Relatives: Dennis & Rhonda Whallen (Parents)
Group Affiliation: Justice Avengers
Background/History:
The former Kid Canada continued his distinguished super heroic career into the
1950’s, no longer being All American’s young sidekick, having earned the
respect of his peers and took the name Canuck. Following WW 2, he spent much of
his time touring his native country and becoming a symbol of Canadian national
pride in much the same way All American was in the USA. He was a founding member
of the Liberty Squad, the 50’s continuation of the golden age Lords of
Liberty. The core members of the Liberty Squad were beginning to feel the years
of service and as the 1960’s began, the group disbanded. Still in his prime,
he was left as one of the most experienced, well known, and respected heroes
that was still active. Canuck returned to Canada only to be contacted by Star
who was in the process of forming the Justice Avengers. Star knew he did not
have the field knowledge necessary to run the fledgling team and asked Canuck to
join and share his years of experience. He accepted the offer and helped train
the group to be superheroes in the same way he learned from the Lords. He
continued his career with the Justice Avengers until their mysterious
disappearance in the late 60’s.
Personality/Motivation:
Canuck is more like a career military man than a typical superhero. He really
did not have a civilian life since he started as Kid Canada in his mid-teens and
spent virtually his whole life working as a superhero. His quiet, respectful,
and contemplative personality made him perfect for the role he was destined to
play and the leadership and determination qualities he picked up from his time
with All American completed the package making him the superhero’s superhero
of his day.
