Background:  Casey McCoy has gone by several names in his long life, but this is his current name.  His current background was that he was raised in South Boston by an Irish Catholic family and joined the military as soon as he was out of high-school, flying through ranks.

His true background was that he was the FirstSon of one of the Irish Celtic tribes who still followed paganism despite the fact that most of the island had already converted to Catholicism.  Casey believed he was the only one seeing the err in the ways of his kin, giving libations to the faerie folk and the gods while living in the wild, nomadic, often suffering losses in life due to the primitive lifestyle.  On many occasions, he found his way to the civilized places of his country and tried to convince his kin to give up their ways and join a township under an abbot.  They refused to budge, and frowned on his insolence.  Casey never gave up his battle and turned his aggressions to the creatures he considered the cause of his people’s stiff necks and starving souls.

He once caught a group of faerie come upon his brother who, in his hunger, had eaten the sacred bread left out for them.  The young man chased them away, throwing iron arrowheads at them, and injuring several.  They returned to plague his family for his disrespect.  Things came to a head when he caught his sister taking part in a faerie dance, being seduced by two Sidhe.  He lost his temper and killed the entire group in an attempt to save his sister from their disgusting hedonism.  His sister sister slapped him and flew to the people.  The clan was torn in two, some saying he should have left his sister as a libation to the faerie for his previous insolence, others saying his sister should not have gone to a sacred faerie celebration despite her contests that she had been invited.

Unable to console the differences in the clan, Casey’s father sought to make him leave, as he had been the one to bring the supernatural hardship on his family.  Infuriated at how the faerie and demons of the woods have enchanted his family to their doom, he leaves, but vows to make them pay.  He spent the rest of his life often working for the Church under secret missions destroying demons and the pagan messengers, particularly, the faerie.  However, as time went on, the bureaucracy of the group under which he hunted grew dense with red-tape and other problems.  Stuck and wanting to continue making the world a safe place for humans to tread without otherworldly interference, he ran into Ericka Kelsale and with her and several others throughout the years, they formed the Shadow Guard, which became “Official” in the 1700’s, though they worked unofficially several centuries beforehand.
