Character History Morpheus is a minor deity who is often called on when creating spells having to do with sleep. If said spell-caster appeases him he will grant or deny sleep, bring messages in dreams, or possibly bring madness into sleep. Normally, he is benevolent, bringing people the sleep they need, or perhaps they need insomnia. He tries to bring their subconscious to light in their dreams; it is up to the dreamer to see the relevance. He often works in harmony with muses to bring inspiration and realization in dreams. Because of his affinity to humans
since they have the most powerful dreams, he spends much time around them to
better commune and make their dreams work for them. Because he is such
a minor deity, he has menial powers. He can manipulate time, as he
needs, to make sure all are sleeping when they need to, and he can teleport
and use limited psycho-kinetics (both telepathy and telekinetics).
However, when in a human avatar form, he can be hurt/wounded as a human
unless he can escape into the Netherworld of Dreams. Powers: In Dreamworld form, Morpheus comes and goes as he pleases. He can teleport, move objects and enter into anyone’s mind who is in the process of falling asleep. He feels the pull of sleep from anywhere and everywhere at all times and answers the calls as he chooses. In a Human Avatar form, Morpheus becomes like a human. If the human dies, he is released back into the Netherworld and must rest there for a long time before he can leave again. He tends to get very bored just sitting in the Dreamworld. However, if the Human Avatar is injured or captured, the essence of Morpheus is trapped within it and he cannot return to the Netherworld of Dreams… and thusly, cannot bring sleep to those who need it. |
