Raised in London, England.
At a very young age, Royal often
had the spirit of adventure. Be it caused from the tales his grandfather
used to sprout off to he and his sister, or simply because it was in his
blood to explore the world, Royal was intrigued to find adventure. When he
had means enough to leave home, he set off toward the lands of Egypt in
search of ancient tombs or toward India to seek out the tales of gold and
artifacts.
Hardly home, he is always aboard,
following up on a lead or a clue. When not adventuring, he is usually
seeking out new information for a new quest. Life is all about the next
quest, conquest, adventure.
Having stumbled upon the existence of Dark Ones in his
quests, he began to search for the history and meanings behind these
creatures as well. It was fascinating to him that they had their own
languages, artifacts, and belief's base. Intrigued, he began alternate
missions to seek out the dark ones.
It was then he realized a gift he had. He could
talk to the dead, and not only that...he could raise it. It happened in the
tombs of Egypt. His team had uncovered an old burial site of what appeared
to be the servant of a pharaoh named Hept'An'umak. Sitting next to the
sarcophagus deep in thought about the mummy inside, he scribbled notes about
his discovery when all of sudden, a cooling wind swept through the tomb.
Looking around, and toward the exit, he wondered what had caused the breeze.
Standing, Royal looked toward the corpse and the source of the cold
quickened. Fear had come and gone, leaving him with enough curiosity at what
was happening. The power continued to grow, touching the mummy, feeling it
to the core. Royal felt the awareness of the being when it stirred, as if it
were confused at it's whereabouts at first. Not understanding why he felt
these things, he was paralyzed with wonder, watching and feeling the
experience he was going through. Royal watched it rise up, sitting perfectly
prone, the bandages around it stifling any smooth movements.
The experience almost ran him from the area, but curiosity about what
happened kept him there. When the mummy turned it's bandaged shrouded head
to look at Royal, he again was taken back by the gesture. But then the thing
began to speak, not with it's mouth, but still speaking-- as if he could
hear the words in his mind. He asked why Royal had called him back to his
body. Royal hadn't realize he had called anyone back to their
body. He had tried to explain this, but the mummy and enforced the notion
that it was indeed Royal who had made the call. Royal could not believe what
had happened nor what was still happening-- he was talking to a mummy!
Excited to be in contact with someone from a different time, he began to ask
it all sorts of questions about it's life and how civilization in his time
dictated itself. The mummy answered everything Royal asked 'til the
questions ran out. The mummy asked if it was all, and Royal could say
nothing more than yes. The mummy then lay back inside his sarcophagus, again
motionless and lifeless. The energies Royal had felt before were still
present, but not as intense. He still felt Hept'An 'umak, but now it were as
if it were a lingering memory. Royal stood starring at the ancient one a
long time before he left.
Since then he has studied this odd occurrence, finding
the name Necromancer. He discovered only some people have the gift as well
as how the gift could be used efficiently.
Involved in this world of darkness, Royal eventually
met up with the Shadow Guard a year prior in 2016. He joined the faction as a
solider, but used primarily as an Artifacts and Languages (Necromancy not
being a skill SG calls on frequently to use) for the Liverpool,
England SG Station--unaware his sister was also in the Shadow Guard in the
States. He is rarely at the Station, his need for exploration and adventure
taking him other places. Since he is now funded by the Shadow Guard, things
he could only dream of doing can now be accomplished. |
