Just Three Colors
sung by Big Bird (Carroll Spinney) and Oscar the Grouch (Carroll Spinney)
not complete yet
Note about this tune from Silvery Shoe's childhood memories of the album "Havin' Fun With Ernie And Bert And The Muppets Of Sesame Street":
The record jacket had three transparent plastic discs attached to it: one red, one yellow, and one blue.
They overlapped one another, and you could turn them and see the color combinations they made.
(spoken)
Oscar: Hey, look at the cardboard cover this record comes in!
Big Bird: What about it, Oscar?
Oscar: Well, it's got these funny-looking plastic things that spin around.
(Big Bird says a line I don't recall and then starts to sing.)
(sung)
Big Bird: Just three colors
Red and yellow and blue
(I forget the rest of this verse and any dialogue that comes before the next part)
(spoken)
Big Bird ...and red and blue make purple! Isn't it pretty?
Oscar: Well, I think it's ugly. But then, I Iove ugly!
Big Bird: And it works with crayons and paints, too!
(sung)
Just three colors
Red and yellow and blue
See them mix and see the pretty rainbows shine through
Three different colors
How they shine this way!
Each adds something to the other in a very beautiful way!
Oscar (sincerely): That was beautiful.
(Pause as Oscar realizes what he just said!)
But then, I hate beautiful!
