Longy and Shorty - Longer Is Better
cartoon with two snakes
might not be complete yet
[Scene: A desert at night. Under the stars we see Longy, a very long rattlesnake, and Shorty, a very short rattlesnake. They both wear neckerchiefs and cowboy hats. Longy is curled around a rock.]
Shorty: Hey, Longy, just because you’re longer, you think you’re better than I am?
Longy: To be longer is to be better!
[There may be forgotten lines, and then Longy sticks the tip of his tail above the rock and shakes his rattle absently. They both jump.]
Longy: What was that?
Shorty: It sounded like ... a rattlesnake!
Longy: I’m afraid of them!
Shorty: You shouldn’t be afraid. We’re rattlers.
Longy: Oh. [In a louder voice.] Come on out, buddy! We got you covered.
Shorty: Hey, Longy, seein’ that you’re longer and better than I am, take a nip out of his tail.
Longy: Okay. [He bites the tip of his tail, then winces and begins licking it.]
Shorty [laughs]: Hey, Longy, that was you!
Longy: That was me?
Shorty: Yeah, you had your tail curled around a rock!
Longy: Maybe bein’ long isn’t bein’ smart after all.
Shorty: Wanna borrow my snake-bite kit?
